Re: Untill Roger Goodell ends CBS/Fox
Here's a clue:https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnb...paramount.html
Until Roger Goodell ends contract deals with CBS/Fox
That's when I'll believe 2k has a shot at the license
So for now on we should look at the NFL deals for context clues 💡
2k isn't getting another shot at a console NFL game.
2k dared to dream big twenty years ago and come up short.
It was a good run but dead is dead.
Some may find my lack of faith disturbing but this is the way.

No, we must look at the context clues for hints.
Like...imagine if 2K had some kind of deal with the NFL or NFLPA, even recently. That'd be a good clue. But wait, imagine the deal ended and they no longer have one. That'd also be a big clue. Whoa nevermind, that's crazy talk. We're better off seeing what the NFL is doing with TV networks.👍 2Comment

Re: Untill Roger Goodell ends CBS/Fox
What does a TV deal have to do with a completely separate deal for a video game?
TV deals are multiple times more lucrative than a dumb video game contract. The Madden deal is pocket change for EA and they keep it because it’s easier to deal with than having multiple game developers.
Y’all really gotta give it up already. There is a much higher likelihood that we have no more Madden/NFL games at all than another developer making a game. This isn’t the 90s. It’s too expensive, too time consuming, and too much legal work with the NFL to get something approved.Last edited by MiracleMet718; 04-08-2026, 06:43 AM.Comment

1CK1S They half-arsed it with that game though. Didn't it not even have a franchise mode? If they committed to it I think it would have sold a lot better.
In terms of a modern 2k game, they could definitely take the Maximum route, only they'd have A LOT better shot at it doing well given their resources. Give the players complete customization akin to MyLeague in the NBA games including league and playoff format, and let players share logos and team designs.
The problem is, it's 2k and they would want some sort of microtransaction revenue stream from the game. An ultimate team mode isn't going to sell well in a game with fake players. They could always pay legends, and if I'm not mistaken legends could appear in both the EA game and the 2k game because they have individual agreements with EA as they aren't a part of the NFLPA. So it's not like 2k would have to compete against EA for the likenesses of legends, that would just be an extra payment for those guys or their families. I could also see them adding a My Career that is riddled with microtransactions and has certain skills/badges gated behind battle passes. That would suck as I used to enjoy the My Career/Superstar/Road To Glory type modes in older games, but I know I could accept that mode being unplayable for me as long as we got a completely customizable franchise mode, and I think most players here would agree.👍 2Comment

2k barely wanted to make a college basketball game but EA forced their hand
2k is on a very high horse of Euphoria
I miss that early 2000 2k gritComment

Should be very interesting to see what they do with the college basketball game. If it's a copy/paste of MyLeague but with college teams and a recruiting system I'd be thrilled. Just hoping we can disable players leaving early like in the old games, as I don't want to recruit a player who goes pro after one season.
Unfortunately people who like RTG/MyPlayer modes are probably not going to be happy with whatever they come up with on that end.👍 1Comment
