Why did 2k wait so many years for the Arcade license???

If the Arcade license was always available all this time why did 2k just woke up someday and say let's go for the arcade License💡

I think it's more deeper than we think🤔

Your premise is false. The arcade license was not available all this time.

They could have always made an arcade game but they couldn’t have done it with NFL teams or players.

That made it a non starter to begin with.

(Also there is no such thing as an arcade license….)

Yeah, the original deal was completely exclusive for consoles.

Five-year contract gives EA sole rights to the NFL, including teams, players, and stadiums. Take-Two reacts, calling it a "tremendous disservice to the consumers."

One of the extensions opened the door for arcade game’s eventually. Not sure which one.

They still could have created an arcade game. They just couldn’t have used NFL teams/players.

I hate EA and the NFL for the exclusive as much as anyone but I can’t really blame them for closing every door to competition.

2k went with an exclusive MLB license but there was a loophole that Sony used to make the Show which eventually killed 2ks game and forced them out of the baseball market. EAs deal never allowed that to happen to them and football.

It wasn't so much a 'loophole' in the traditional sense since 2K did third-party exclusive to "kill off" MVP Baseball.

Then they (they higher up execs that singed the deal) realized how less popular MLB video games are to NFL (duh). They put way less resource into MLB 2K, the game suffered from a technical/graphical standpoint for it and was eventually killed off.

Sucks cause I think that terrible deal also had a domino effect of them "killing off" Top Spin and NHL 2K as well.

Just two overall terrible deals for consumers that "killed off" or "helped" lead to the cancelation of a lot series.

I do wonder if they'll model the "arcade" game after the original NFL 2K and not NFL Blitz or NFL Street..

That original game was an 'arcade' (unintentionally I presume) title at least from a gameplay perspective.
