I have been playing games for years and years and have mostly enjoyed the console sports games rather than the text based sim games. I have always enjoyed controling my team ON the field.

I enjoy Season mode because I like to IMITATE a real current NFL season, with all of the players on their correct teams playing out what I see in the REAL NFL season.

I have NEVER played a Franchise mode in a video game as I never understood the attraction of playing with draft classes or players that don't exist or trading and cutting and retiring players that in reality are still in the NFL.

    What am I missing?

Can someone tell me what they enjoy from Franchise and what makes it fun to play?

    thanks

A legitimate question. For me, sports management is the fun part. Playing the games is fun also, but the management aspect is what does it for me. Games in my basement do NOT need to mirror real life to the gnats arse detail for me. I usually do a fantasy draft and start a franchise when I get games like this. I already know what the real NFL teams are doing, for me that's dull to simulate. I want to build my own team through drafting and free agents and watching the cap. Running a single season for me is a waste of my time. I'll watch the real season for that.

Now when I was younger, I'd gladly spend hours making roster moves for every team while playing Statis Pro Baseball or maybe Strat-o but them days are gone for me.
As long as the game is a reasonable facsimile of the real thing, I'm cool with it.
