Freezes/lock ups on my PS3...game should run

I recently popped NFL2k5 into my PS3. Everything loads up just fine but I am getting freezes and audio loops in some of the menus. After a couple of tries, I was able to load up a game but after a few plays the issue appeared during gameplay.

Ironically, the pregame ESPN music had looped into the actual game itself and I heard no game sound effects, crowd, or commentary - just the music looping, but the gameplay was normal. After a few plays it froze.

I was wondering if anybody else has seen this. My PS3 plays all my other PS2 titles with no problems. Perhaps the disc is bad?
