Don't know what is going on over at EA, but it's clear based on the minor gameplay and presentation updates since the September launch that EA NHL is not even a tertiary priority. Too bad another company isn't interested in the NHL license because this once proud franchise has been seemingly ignored by the corporate heads when it should be competitive with the other major league sports titles like Madden, NBA, and MLB. It may sound crazy to some, but NHL 94 outsold NBA 94 back in the day and more importantly got teenagers like myself at the time interested in hockey. Fast forward to my nephew and his friends today, they have no interest in EA NHL (or hockey) and I can understand why when EA doesn't appear to be "all-in" when I see minor title updates like this every month. Again, this isn't a slight toward the hardworking programmers, but the people not adequately investing the appropriate capital along with manpower to make a top-level game. -

NHL2k would just be a bunch of micro transactions an online player modes. This isn’t the mid-to-late 2000s unfortunately.
As for the lack of updates, I’m not surprised. Like said above, they aren’t being given the resources to add what they want into the game. The devs do care and are trying to add things in at a slower pace than we’d like, but they don’t have much support to tackle what we want.
I just hope next year they fix the AI to play more realistically and from there I can’t complain. Outside of the slight wonkiness in the physics engine at times, the skating physics are much better than the old game and I even think the goalies and puck physics are drastically improved these last two years. But the lack of AI intelligence kills gameplay to an extent that makes it not as routinely enjoyable as it should be.Comment

CPU AI needs improved in ALL sports games. I would think the use of "AI" in the future to assist the CPU vs a human player is coming at some point.Comment
