Re: The realignment cometh
So, we are going to ignore the fact that the Blue Jackets are further south and east than the team they are moving to the Southeast?
Not to mention the fact the Red Wings are being taken away from natural rivals in Chicago and St Louis, while Columbus has no natural rivals.
Oh, and if Detroit moves to the East, Columbus will have two NHL teams within 200 miles of them, and both are in separate conferences.Too Old To Game Club

Re: The realignment cometh
Hmmm, good piece.
I ended up liking the last one the best, but the changes are so severe, I don't think it would fly.
The system is pretty screwed up currently, though. And most of the other realignment ideas don't address all the screw ups. So maybe a big change is necessary.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

If you're looking for me to agree that moving Detroit to the Southeast is stupid, I already said it was.Comment

Re: The realignment cometh
• Home and homes. Every team would play a home and home series. This is something fans have wanted since the NHL changed the scheduled years ago. Every team visits every arena at least onceDivisional playoffs. The divisional playoff model setup, which helped create rivalries in the past, would be part of this realignment scenario. The top four teams from each of the four divisions would make the playoffs and battle it out for the first two rounds.Last edited by Kobalt; 12-05-2011, 04:37 PM. Reason: Picture too big/don't work. Re: The realignment cometh
I like the idea of home and homes with everyone. I've been trying to see every team in person, but lots of people are only here every other year...and of course there likely won't be a Phoenix anymore, so I'm going to end up 1 team short it looks like.
Anyway, I hate the uneven divisions. I think baseball had it wrong all these years with a 6-team division and a 4-team division, and I think they recognize that it needed to be fixed and that's why they're moving Houston. The fix seems simple to me, move Nashville to the Southeast and put the 4 Canadian teams in the west with Minnesota, move Colorado down with Phoenix and the California teams, and then Dallas to the division with St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago and Columbus.
But, when Phoenix inevitably moves, this will all get messed up again anyway.Comment

Re: The realignment cometh
Works for me. Hopefully the new "conferences" are named Gretzky, Howe, Orr, and Lemieux.
In case Detroit/Columbus fans were wondering about their road games:
Current format: 18 in Pacific/Mountain TZ, 11 in Central TZ, 12 in Eastern TZ
Proposed new format: 8 in Pacific/Mountain TZ, 16-17 in Central TZ, 16-17 in Eastern TZLast edited by DrJones; 12-05-2011, 09:53 PM.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: The realignment cometh
Doesn't address any of Detroit's or Columbus' concerns. Nashville would be playing in a different time zone than all of their conference opponents. I doubt Minnesota fans want to see nothing but Canadian teams.Anyway, I hate the uneven divisions. Re: The realignment cometh
The one thing I don't like about the set-up in the link 2 Kobalt posted is that we're separated from all the other Canadian teams while they're bunched together. You have Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto, and then you have Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary, while we're the odd duck.
I was hoping with re-alignment, we'd be put in a division/conference with the Canucks, Oilers, Flames, and maybe Minnesota as well.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Decision has been made on re-alignment. We should be seeing the details soon.
