One thing thats keeping me from getting the game is that the reviewers all say the courses are repetitve. Do you guys find that? Are there enough objectives to keep things fresh?

I liked Midnight Club 2 but I do wish it had some car customization.

The courses are and aren't repetitive depending on how you look at it. Basically the entire game takes place in one city. So the courses all intersect and overlap. You won't find yourself racing the same course over and over but you'll be racing through some parts over and over. As far as ambiance goes it's all the same, you won't find the obligatory "seaside cliffs" or "dessert" courses here. Personally I prefer it. By racing in the same city constantly you begin to develop a familiarity with the roads you're driving, which can really be important at 130MPH. I like the look and feel because as someone who has the unfortunate luck to live right on a major drag strip knows, these guys only come out at night.

Thanks for the info. I live near a strip as well. You can hear them late at night on the weekends. Its funny, theres even a 'custom' parts shop on the corner where the racers hang during the afternoon. You never know when the race is on, but every once in a while you hear the engines and you know its happening.

            Re: Need for Speed Underground

To continue my quasi-review from above, the game is flatout one of the most fun racers i've played in a long time, and I get bored with racers at a frightening speed. I have stopped buying Gran Turismo titles because I find them mind numbingly bland. On the negative side, some more locations might have helped the game be even better, but the real problem here is Replay, or lack thereof. Pull off a sick pass in a drag race? Well I hope you were taping it because you'll never see it again. They left out one of the biggest parts of the scene, the videos. The magazine covers are nice but the underground street videos are just as important, hopefully they might add this if they do another Tuner car version of NFS (Which I highly doubt because the NFS franchise goes through subject matter faster than the average Vin Diesel movie goes to video). What is done right? Just about everything else, the SPEED is just sick, the first game to really do it right, the sound is amazing, I shut off the music (pretty lame selection of music I might add, c'mon gimme just one Ludacris song ). You can actually hear the difference between different engines, as my Civic has gotten more pwerful I can hear the blow off valve on the turbo and so forth. It goes like this, if you hate tuner cars, tuner car subculture, any movie with Paul Walker, wait for the next Gran Turismo, if you love tuner cars and rice rockets you probably already bought the game, but if you are a casual car person looking for a quick fix I suggest you pick this up, you may find the depth of this one surprising. Now if I could just convince those kids on my street that a louder muffler does not necessarily make their '89 maxima more powerfull.

            (hope this helped)

Correction - I forgot to use the term "Kings Of Crunk" at least once in this quasi-review. I sincerely apologize to any and all Kings of the aforementioned Crunk I may have offended. I did not mean to imply that their level of Kingliness was any less Crunk than anyone elses. It was merely a Crunk oversight on part. Long Live the Kings of Crunk.

Editors Note: To learn more about the Kings Of Crunk or how you can be Crunk, please visit your local library or the National Library of Congress.

The game sounds good. I've been a fan of the Tokyo Xtreme series so this sounds like that mixed with Fast and the Furious. I probably will pick it up. But then there's TXR3 thats 20 bucks too. decisions...

My biggest dissapointment is that there are no replays.
