I have all my rosters saved on a memory card that my friend is holdin onto (MADDEN 07, NBA 2K7, NCAA 07, MARCH MADENESS 07, CH 2K7)...I was wondering if I were to retrieve it from him rename and resave to HDD, if I would be safe??? Also I have a dynasty going with my NCAA 07 currently on my HDD and have't checked to see how it was affected, wut do you guys think may have happened. Unfortunately my MLB 2K7 rosters were fried along with my Madden 07 rosters. MLB 2K7 shouldnt be hard to re-coup,seeing that there were a few made available, but I dont know were I could get tehe latest Madden rosters again......THIS IS F'D up man...SERIOUSLY!!!!!!

Let me make sure I''ve got this right. As long as we rename the roster file, we're good to go, right? I downloaded FK's NCAA rosters for the 360 last year. I made a few changes and then renamed it last summer. After seeing this thread, I put NCAA in and the roster is working fine. I always rename the roster files anyway, so if that's all I have to do to get them to work for NCAA 2008, then that's fine with me. If not, as much as I love my 360, I may be looking at trading it in for a PS3.

You sir are safe. As long as you rename the file you are good to go. There is no threat of your roster file or franchise becoming corrupted.

So the short term workaround is for Dkrause or FK or anyone that is tagged, is to save your files, pass them onto someone with a non-updated 360, have them open the files and save them, renaming them and we should be good? Right? Unless this particular file gets uploaded to 360gamesaves.com then they should not get tagged again.

So how do I avoid getting the update? Can I still sign onto xbox Live? Or is it going to require me to do the update to even access live? I personally don't want the update as it has absolutely no features that I want anyway, and now, this feature that I definitely don't want. I figure I can avoid the update for a while, but eventually one of the new sports games is going to require it....any thoughts?

I may not even buy NCAA 08 this year if this situation doesn't get fixed. And it's usually my favorite, most played, game every year.

Not to be an apologist but we have only had 2 business days since this story broke and it only affects a small number of consumers so I will be surprised if MS ever releases a statement about this. Realize that most 360 users dont use sites like Operation Sports and devices like Xplorer 360 to get rosters so most dont even know this is an issue. Most people just wait for the company updates or make the changes themselves.

Isn't it already "fixed" though if the roster guys have a new (non-tagged) console? I understand what you are saying, but it isn't like we won't get rosters this year for NCAA.

What gets me is why did MS have to use such extremem measures? Why not just void the ability to earn gamer points/achievements when a user elects to use a shared file? Simply tag the file (as they've done) and "turn-off" (for lack of a better term) the ability to earn those awards. That way it is a user-based decision as to whether or not to use a shared file rather than this unilateral approach.

While I agree with you for the most part, obviously enough people are "cheating" or using file transfer devices to warrant Microsoft to add programming time to eliminate this practice. Yet, we are such a minority that they will not address it? Maybe I am just naive, but just how many people do you think are accessing game saves to cheat and up there gamer profile? A lot? I would think there are a lot more roster and sports gamers out there using these for legitimate purposes....but I might be wrong.

I guess it is a calculated risk by MS. Lock out the cheaters, and vicariously lock out the hard core sports gamers rosters that get caught in the crossfire. Hope that is balances out in the end. I know it has made me doubt my XBOX360 future. I need a new controller and was thinking of picking up one of the new elite controllers. But now I am inclined to not invest anymore into this system as a Ps3 might be in the cards. Especially if rosters saves and upated are as easy a using USB drives. As long as this exists on the 360, I will have some anxiety every time I access one of my rosters or franchise files wondering if this is the time that MS has now blocked it or not.

I'm getting some weird feelings about the 360 now that this has become an issue. The future of my 360 is now in jeapordy. HopeI spelled it right. I just want to game and not have to worry about all this BS!!! If this does not change or continue to be a problem, looks like I will going back to the PS3. Peace!!!

Come on, people have been cheating since the freak'n game genie...why does it matter what a person does, once they get the games home. It's not so much the cheating, that site allows you to download XBLA games... that essentially is pirating software if you download the games.

Which makes me not blame MS one bit for what procedures they've done. Hopefully they will come up with a better solution but if not I'm not giving them the full blame.
