Lol. How was MS to know this kid has autism? They found someone cheating and rectified the problem. Yah, it sucks, but this is such a non-story. Can they go back and change their mind? Sure. But to say it was the wrong decision in the beginning is ridiculous.

And if you go on the xbox support forums there are hundreds of threads from parents complaining about their kid's 360's getting banned but no one ever makes a big deal over it.

the best part of this story is the mom. attention-whore alert! at first she said the account was hacked. and by "hacked" she really meant "willingly gave the account credentials to someone else". and once the truth came out, she shut up and shut down her Twitter account real fast.

Indeed, Stephen Toulouse, Director of Police and Enforcement at Microsoft, emailed the boy's mother, Jennifer Zdenek, with what it claimed was clear evidence of her's son's malfeasance:

"The account Zombie Kill67 transferred from the Xbox it is normally seen on, to an Xbox in another city. The account earned several achievements for Halo 3 that can only be done online and in succession. It was clear they were unlocked out of order and offline. Earning successive online achievements out of order and offline is an impossible feat, not due to skill, but due to the technology of the system. It can only be done by modifying the account and faking the achievements."

Zdenek now admits her son gave his Gamertag to an online pal so he could get "Recon Armour" in Halo 3. She says she even warned him about it at the time worried the other gamer may have been phishing for bank account details.

A red-faced Zdenek still claims her son didn't intend to cheat. Now, she said, she and her son would just like to put the episode behind them.

Microsoft has offered Julias a free month of Xbox Live to start fresh with a new Gamertag.

if he's just starting over with a new gamertag, every new account gets one month free for trial. So he really got nothing in return for being a cheater and having an attention whore mother.

Umm no. Truth? Truth? The truth is this is an autistic child. There are issues at work here that some are ignorant of. It's one thing to say there needs to be consequences for his behavior and another to be calling his mother an attention whore and reducing this kid to just a stinking cheater. It is hard to discuss things with the ignorant.

I don't see the issue here if MS is punishing the kid as they would any other.

I don't mean to come across as a prick by saying this, but just because he's Autistic doesn't mean he should be punished differently than anyone else in this situation.

I stopped caring after you said you have an agenda with MS and your kid is autistic.

Feel bad for your kid because no kid should have to suffer through anything but this is more of your agenda with MS then anything else.

You are just trying to justify your rant on MS by saying they scorned the kid.

MS had no idea he is an autistic child. Cheaters are cheaters and is not MS job to find which are autistic and which are not.

If they go out of their way to find out if the kid is autistic then give back the points. What is to say another kid claims to have autisim or another situation that they cry should give them the chance to get their hacked points back

The truth is that the kid having autism doesn't excuse his cheating, the mother lying to get attention, or anyone blowing this out of proportion when kids get banned from xbox live all the time.

I know quite a bit about autism and autistic kids, I work with them every week through the special olympics, and the kid is still a cheater and the mother is still an attention whore.
