Irony, because the only ignorance I see here is from you. The truth is, kid's a cheater, mother is an attention whore. Previous posts and articles have proven so.
If this was a non-autistic kid, I don't doubt that you would be reducing him to "a stinking cheater." And your post contradicts itself. You say there needs to be consequences, but you can't say he was a cheater? What would there be consequences for if he wasn't cheating?
You're taking this way too personal when it has absolutely nothing to do with you or your child. Like BNG said, just because he has autism doesn't excuse him from being punished like anyone else. Autism or not, he still cheated.

I agree with pretty much everyone else. Kid cheated no matter how you look at it and the mom is an attention whore.

It is pretty obvious that Microsoft needs to do background checks complete with medical records before they ban a account. They will also need to do credit checks on anyone opening a account, a complete review of their online activity, Urinalysis, and a polygraph.

This is the only way we can find out about any extenuating circumstances before they ban a account. They should also consider changing their name from Microsoft to UNICEF.

Yep, I agree. I have to show this to my GF who used to work with autistic kids (trying to habilitate them and help them interact with the regular world better)...

Pretty sure she'll agree that cheating's cheating and autistic kids shouldn't be given a free pass.

Gotta admit it's kinda funny to see MS just own them with all the facts...Mom was all whiny and gets told to STFU because her kid's a cheater.

I have to defend the kid here. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't realize that he was cheating. Who's to say? However, the mother, knew from the beginning that the account was given to someone and then it sounded like she tried to use his Autisim for personal gain. I feel sorry for the kid because he may have not known he did anything wrong but, if his mother hadn't been such a jerk about it, maybe they could have worked out a compromise like just resetting his gamerscore and not having the "cheater" label. Now that she's been caught in a lie, the kid loses, not her.

I agree the Mother is probably more at fault here. Maybe she'll learn a lesson from all of this.

Re: MS labels Autistic child "Cheater" erases his gamerscore

Maybe the kid had a friend who said I know how to get the armor, send me your gamertag info and I'll get it for you also.

Is that cheating, yes, but does it really matter? It's nothing different than having someone else bet a level for you or the game genie stuff back in the day.

MS needs to just let the people keep their gamerscore and then just put a big red X on their avatar picture and put cheater on there. Then let the cheaters compete to see who can be the biggest cheater.

For the autism part, yes it could effect him. He could be hurt because of losing his score if he was focused on that part of playing. That's why I would left cheaters keep their scores but just label them differently.

You probably can tell I don't care anything about my gamerscore and I don't even know what mine is.

Lol right...and officer, I swear I didn't know those drugs were in my car, honest. They're not mine.

Sounds like he knows the game more than well enough to want Recon armor, so he must know what's involved and all that...The kid knew, so did the mom, and then they went to the press all whiny. Just makes me laugh at the attention whores...

I agree. It's cheating whether he knew it or not, that wasn't my point. It needs to be punished, bottom line. I was just trying to say that it could have been a better outcome for the kid if the mother hadn't tried to lie about it and do it publicly making a *** of herself.

The mother should ask herself that, if she doesn't want her son to lie and cheat, she should set a better example.

Sorry mgoblue, if my original post wasn't clear for what I was trying to say.

Bottom line is that the kid cheated and the mom lied for him.

You can't treat this differently when the kid cheated. This would lend to anybody using that excuse to get their hacked points back.

Bottom line is that nobody likes to see somebody take advantage of things like this. MS did the right thing and are at no fault here.

Cheaters are cheaters no matter how you try to defend them

I totally agree...where this went wrong was the mom going to her local news channel and obviously they sensationalized this with the Autistic angle. Great news story for them! No clue why the mom even thought of going to the news for this, no way in hell my mom would ever do that type of thing.
