I think the video out features are nice and for $60 it has enough of the Big N classics to be a worthwhile purchase, but $180? People are crazy.

I agree, for me it is barely a $60 buy, it's just nostalgia and I doubt I'll play it a ton, but it's cool and I'd like one..not paying any more than retail though.

I'll wait until mid-February and they will be everywhere by then

If anyone is still looking for one of these, Walmart is making a limited amount of consoles and controllers available at 5PM (or 5:15 like yesterday) each day through Friday. It took a lot of browser refreshing and attempts to add to cart, but I was able to order a console yesterday. The console and controller will appear on the page below when they release the daily allotted quantity.

So my wife is not a gamer at all, she doesn't follow gaming, doesn't know a lick of anything related to it. So around a month ago she comes to me, "Hey I saw they are coming out with the old NES, it has a bunch of games, and it will work with these TV's". So I respond like most of us would, "Yea babe, I know about it.... I kind of had my eye on it but unsure if I'm going to pull the trigger". She then hit me with, "We should buy around 10 of them and flip em on ebay!!".

She is all excited and basically begging me to buy 10 of these, so I didn't want to crush her dreams but played the smart move. "That sounds like a fantastic idea...................................So this is what I'm thinking, this will be your baby. You find them, buy them using my amazon credit card, and when they come in I'll put them on ebay at whatever price you think!"

So she was pumped! Until yesterday lol, she comes home and tells me "I can't find any, they are sold out everywhere". So I just started laughing and said, "That's exactly why I didn't want to fight with it hahaha".

Surely Nintendo knew the demand that would come of this and that they'd sell out. What doesn't make sense to me is why they didn't either raise the price to meet the demand or (more plausible) make more.

We had to know something was up when we couldnt pre order it. They did the same lack of stock with the Wii. And probably will do the same with the Switch

I can answer this.

Nintendo has always and will always generate interest with low stock so that ppl "talk about it"

Its the old supply and demand routine and they are using the NES Classic as publicity for their brand NOT their software.

Not gpoing to be fawning over a system that can conceivably only have one new nintendo ip at launch.

If it was Zelda then yes thats worth it as i feel the next zelda will be as good as skyrim

for black friday some stores got shipments of only 6 units?!@#$%

If you count that with an average of what came out on 11/11 to 11/24 thats maybe what

18 to 24 units per store in the last two weeks

about 70% of nes classic are ending up on Ebay

and about 70% are averaging at around 220 resale value

Every time I think that this would be a cool little purchase, I'm reminded that Nintendo is purposely limiting the supply, and allowing scalpers to overprice this, while marketing it as a "collector's item" on eBay for $200+. Nintendo knows how huge the retro video game market is these days. This isn't by accident.
