    -Poor Randy.

-Herc should get whacked in Season 5, right off the rip. I hate that stupid bastid. Partly responsible for alot of death, pain and suffering...all for a stupid camera.

-I really like that job the guy who plays Omar is doing...lots of on-screen charisma. Why did they have to make him gay though? Nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't seem to fit...like they forced it in just to make his character more interesting.

-Michael looks like he's going to be the future of this show.

-Really liked the final scene with Wee-Bey and De'Londa. Good acting by both, IMO.

Like everyone has said above...this show is killing everything else on TV as far as gritty realism. So many characters all interconnected. Its like West Wing, Boston Public, (insert any cops show), and CSI rolled up into one.

I hope all involved in this show get the awards and accolades they deserve.
Yeah I've loved this show since the beginning and this season is better than all the other ones.

Omar is one of my favorite characters ever. The guy who plays him reminds me a lot of Don Cheadle.

It is something to be scared of. Terrible Heroin problem and the city averages 200 plus murders a year. The sad thing is some of the people here kinda embrace it. Calling the city and state Bodymore, Murderland.

Re: The Wire - Season 4

i've only watched season 4. honestly, i didn't know if I would continue watching but its realism and character development (michael turning from a good kid to troubled confused and the braids kid who's dad is in the pen really not being hard) is what makes this one of my favorites. I do not like the cop part much. wish they concentrated more on the crime and kids aspect but the show is one of my favorites and i only watch a few (24, Prison Break, Shield, Entourage).

You really cling to the characters unlike any other show. Sure Jack Bauer is superman and my favorite all time character but alot of it is unrealistic. Watching that dealer who talked to the cop and later got shot in the head was crazy to see.

anyway, its dark realism will not bring in many viewers (i admit that i wasn't really feeling the first 30 minutes or so of episode 1) but so manay people are missing out.

i don't want info or specifics about each season but i'm going to netflix from season 1, 2 and 3. I know BET is coming out with episodes on January but they will censor alot.

                    So my question is:

What season is your favorite and why? (Again I don't want specific reasons why)

From reading Bill Simmons, Season 2 seems to be the best but that's just one opinion. i guess another good question is what season is most like 4?

also: I'm a Canes and Bears fan and i've told others about it, but doesn't that "snitch" who goes to the foster home look like Devin Hester?

To me, they look very similar. Its funny because someone told me Hester looked like him and I've been saying that since I started watching the Wire.

Re: The Wire - Season 4

I have watched them all and IMO season 4 was the best so far. I couldn't disagree with you more about the "Cops" in this show. It's called "The Wire" for a reason. It's a cop show. Watching thugs and dealers shoot it out every week would get old. Having cops that give a **** about the community they police is the main reason I watch the show. Without them it would be to dark and depressing to watch.

*Pryzbylewski went from Detective to teacher because of making a huge mistake by shooting a undercover cop. Since becoming a teacher he showed how much he really wanted to help the kids and what a endless battle it is when fighting politics and lack of a real home life.

*McNulty is back in Major Crimes because he liked Bodie so much. He feels he was the reason Bodie was killed. He's right.

*Kima and "Bubs" go way back to the first season when she was shot. Their relationship has been interesting to watch.

*Bunny went from Cop to Social Worker and ended up giving a kid a chance at a good life.

*Carver got attached to Kevin and failed him in so many ways. Watching him drop him off at the group home brought my wife to tears. Plus his relationship with Ex thug "Cutty" has also been good to watch.

I could go on. But I am sure you get my point. I am a big fan of David Simon (The Corner) and Network Television (Homicide: Life on the Street). The Wire is his best work IMO. I am looking forward to season 5.

Character developement wise it was a great season. But the storyline went pretty much nowhere. This whole season was nothing more than one huge set-up for season 5. It was still damned entertaining but I'd take season 1 or 2 anyday. Season 5 is looking to blow them all out of the water though.

The policemen in the show aren't all good and that's why I like it. They show the good and bad of both sides without preaching anything. D'Angelo in the first season didn't want anything to do with selling drugs and killing people but he still took the fall for his uncle and got killed for it. They show that the drug dealers aren't just idiots and that even some people who kill (Omar) have a code and a reason for doing what they do. There really aren't any cookie cutter characters, everyone has flaws and they are shown.

when i talk about cops, i think it's good but i'd rather see more of carcetti and the politics that goes on rather than the detectives and the fat white dude all the time. i'm not saying it's sopranos "gay mobster" storyline but I'd rather see it in the other main storylines.

Thats funny because HBO did a viewer survey and found most people hate the politics segments. I love the Carcetti storyline though.
