Verizon Wireless offering free online back-up of address books!

Just a FYI: VZW is making their "Backup Assistant" (formerly $1.99 per month) free, providing you are signed up with "My Account" online (also free).

    Back-Up Protection for your contacts
You'll receive free Back-Up Protection so you never have to worry about losing your phone's contact list.

As a My Account member, Back-Up Protection will let you automatically retain a copy of your saved phone numbers to a secure web site, so they're always available if you lose or upgrade your phone.

Follow these easy steps for each phone* on your account.

    To find Backup Assistant:
    • Open the Get It Now Shop on your phone.
    • Select getGOING.
    • Select Business, then Tools.
    • Find Backup Assistant.
    • Download it to your phone.

Note: The $1.99 monthly fee that you are asked to accept will be waived as long as you remain a My Account customer. You will not see a charge for this service on your bill.

If you have multiple lines on your account, you will need to download the application to each phone. Each line will require its own PIN. You can log in to make changes, send updates to your phone, or schedule automatic updates. Remember to make note of the Back-Up Protection PIN assigned to each phone during the download process.

*Back-Up Protection is not available on all phones. Screens for certain phones may be different than those pictured here.

Standard TXT messaging rates apply. Airtime is required for use. Free Back-Up Protection is not applicable to Verizon Wireless employees registered with My Account.
I set this up today, and it's nifty. It allows you to access your address book online, as well as have it automatically updated/uploaded daily. It attaches the address book to your phone number, making recovering address books across phone switches very easy. Users are also able to access and edit their address books online, which can be more convienent than making changes through the phone's interface.

They've also added prorated contract ETFs on all contracts signed on or after 11/16. It will be $175 to start and each month of maintaining service it will go down $5.00.
