    Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread

Speaking of animes on Blu Ray... well... I'm gonna import Mononoke-hime as soon as it comes out in December (the 4th.)

It's expensive as **** ($72 I believe?) but with Mononoke-hime not being licensed for sale in the US anymore and being one of the greatest anime features released... I won't miss the money.

Mononoke is great, but that is too much for me. I still have it on DVD though so it's all good.

Yeah I totally understand that. I never grabbed it (or any off the Ghibli stuff) on DVD. That plus me being a sucker for Blu-ray is a bad combo haha.

In other news, Crunchyroll actually added One Piece simulcast and they're working on getting the previous 618 episodes online and running. Hopefully it brings them a decent amount of business in the US and we can see some more popular shows added.

Until the backlog comes online, I'm going to start from Dragon Ball and watch through DB GT including all the movies. I've never seen the Dragonball and GT series so that stuff is new to me at least, and its always some good mindless fun. I'm almost done with season 2 of the original series at the moment (the general blue arc.)

I wish this thread was more active around here, haha.

Playing through "The Devil is a Part-Timer" on Hulu now. It's different than what I expected but I've thoroughly enjoyed it thus far.

With the college football season effectively over for me, I'll probably start catching up on some shows. I was watching Magi before the season started, I'll probably get back to that.

I have Magi and Magi 2 on my watch list as well, to go along with Log Horizon simulcasts and finishing up Accel World.

              In other news:

              Here's a screenshot comparison of the Mononoke-Hime DVD / Blu-Ray versions. Craziness.

Here's the two separate (I overlaid the two photos on my own, images aren't mine though.)

On a whim, decided to pick up .hack//Quantum from Rightstuf, since it was cheap on sale. I haven't seen anything .hack// since the original series/games for the PS2. It was only three episodes, but still a good show.

I'm having way too much fun with my new TV and Blu-Ray player. I put in Gankutsuou, and it looked incredible. While funky, I still love the art design.

Has anyone purchased any of the sets Aniplex puts out? I'm looking at things like Sword Art Online, yet they're charging 80$ a volume. I know that anime is niche, but even the old DVD prices weren't this bad.

I haven't yet Lambert. I've been thinking about it, though.

Speaking of Sword Art Online... I just got done watching the EXTRA EDITION movie type thing they put out. It was basically just a recap of what happened and isn't something I'd recommend going out of your way to watch - but it wasn't terrible.

However, Season 2 of SAO (which will be the Gun Gale Online arc) is now confirmed for 2014.

The first story arc is pretty good, but they kinda jumped the shark on the second one.

It was reasonably enjoyable but nowhere near as good as the first half or so. I'm hoping the next story arc that comes along gets back to the level it was originally at, though there will be some weird parts to it if I remember correctly.

I've been getting into Monster lately. A great show, with a solid atmosphere. If only Viz would stop dragging their feet and release more.

Started Code Geass after seeing great reviews. On episode 6, the show seems pretty good but confusing. Lots of stuff happens in a short amount of time.
