I plan to. Heard it was somewhat similar to Death Note which I loved to death.Comment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Attack on Titan has a running manga if I remember right. Although I'm not sure at what part the anime leads up to in the manga.
I'm getting into older shows again. Things like Silent Mobius, Tank Police. I really want to go back and watch the original Tenchi OVA. I still love the Tenchi universe.Comment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
That is actually how I discovered it. I work at a book bindery and I kept seeing the manga and thought it sounded interesting. Then last weekend I was trying to find something to watch on Netflix and just happened to see it. So I had absolutely no expectations at all for it going in.
EDIT: Edit: From what I can tell by looking at the wiki page it look like the anime goes up to issue 34 of the manga and the manga is currently at issue 50.Last edited by Steven20; 02-16-2014, 02:41 PM.Comment

SAO was a great series after the first three episodes or so, but after that I lost interest and the quality dropped immensely.Comment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Finally finished season 1, and wow, what a series. Didn't really enjoy the beginning of it but as it went on I learned to enjoy the beauty of the series. I would complain about the massive cliffhanger, but all I have to do is finish torrenting season 2

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Finally stopped being lazy and watched the final 3 episodes of Log Horizon. I loved it. Not too entirely predictable. They do a fantastic job of going into MMO terms/mechanics of the world without being condescending (to those who haven't played MMOs before) or being boring and dry (to those that could write those parts.)
A few of the characters may be a bit too one dimensional for some tastes, but there isn't a character in this show I dislike. They also did a pretty good job of setting up season two later this year.
Now I'm on to watch No Game, No Life. Looked intriguing.
Also, Mel has been watching Nisekoi. They're 19 episodes in I believe. It seems like its a rom-com show from what I could gather, but the couple episodes I saw looked pretty good (and im not one for love stories at all.) May be worth willing to take a chance on watching if you are looking for something to watch.
All in all, the new shows that are going on now are super high quality. Make sure you check some of them out.badComment

The writing and art is great on No Game, No Life, and Sidonia is looking like its going to be Attack on Titan but in space. Even though it should be the other way around since Sidonia's manga has been around longer than AoT

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Hmm.
There's a ton if them, not all long-running.
Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Ruroni Kenshin and Avatar were all relatively big ones.
Hunter x Hunter is long, and still ongoing and pretty damn good.
Fairy Tail is one of my favorite animes of all time and the new version of that just started (on like episode 180 or so now.)
Code Geass has been mentioned in here, though I haven't watched it before so I can't speak to it.
Kill la Kill, though that seems hit it miss for people due to the art style.
Soul Eater I absolutely love. I've seen some people say it's hit or miss... but I was a big fan of this one.
The Ambition of Nobuna Oda (aka Oda Nobuna no Yabou) is an interesting take, though a short series, on historical Japan. The show was a lot more than it seemed on the surface and I enjoyed it. I really wish this one was a longer series.
Blade and Soul is a new one but if you don't like fan service-y stuff it won't be up your alley.
The Devil is a Part-Timer has done action, and was really good to me, but I wouldn't consider it in the same boat.
Brynhildr in the Darkness is new and seems pretty good. It's a bit like a toned-down version of Elfen Lied.
Yu Yu Hakusho might also be right up your alley.
That's not nearly all of them, but should be a decent place to start searching.Last edited by ubernoob; 05-21-2014, 01:00 PM.badComment

Seen Cowboy Bebop. Great series. I also heard a lot about Fairy Tale. May have to watch that.Hmm.

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
I'd definitely say watch Fairy Tail. I updated that post with links and stuff, if you wanted to look around them with ease. Couldn't do the links/formatting well from my phone, so I fixed it on PC.Last edited by ubernoob; 05-21-2014, 01:06 PM.badComment
