Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
So how does everyone feel about this news?
"After Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods became an instant success in japan, in a conference call the creator of the series Akira Toryiama declared that he's now planning to release a new Dragon Ball Saga with over 200 episodes!"
Its only a rumor but reading up on it there seems to be a high chance of it happening especially with the tid bits from Battle of Gods alone.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Im indifferent. I was never a huge fan of DBZ and I didnt like how the DBZ episodes told their stories. As an example, Goku taking like 5 episodes to just cast the Spirit Bomb. The irony is not lost on me though as its pretty much how Bleach and Naruto play out and I do like those
That being said its going to be a huge deal becuase its DB, but I think I'll pass on it.

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Meh news.
DBZ is what it is at this point. A nostalgia watch at best, especially compared with the high quality shows that are out there today - and this is coming from someone who would rush home to catch DBZ before football practice started every day growing up.
I'm not particularly interested in it, though I'm sure I'd watch just to check it out. There are tons of other animes I'd watch before going through DBZ again, though, I have to say.badComment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Random thought, but I don't think I've ever been this impatient with series before as I am this past year. In terms of wanting the full seasons to be out already.
Started with Log Horizon. Now it's Brynhildr in the Darkness. Even No Game, No Life... but I'm not anxiously awaiting new episodes of that add much as I am BitD. Super high quality stuff coming out lately which is fantastic.badComment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
Just finished Black Lagoon for the first time this week. Excellent series and I probably should have watched it when my cousin was badgering me about it back in 2009. Granted it belonged to his friend so I didn't want to borrow it
.
Definitely one of my favorite animes I've watched. Still have to OVA to watch as well.
Regarding that Dragon Ball news, I might have to let my friend who is obsessed with it know, but I can't get into those super long series like I did with DBZ when they originally ran it up here.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
I'm kinda in the same boat, but it's really series-dependent.
DBZ drags on unnecessarily just to fill time. There's so much recap at the beginning, fights take far too long (like, 150 episodes alone to charge a 'Spirit Bomb') and then the "NEXT TIME ON DRAGON BALL Z" part at the end. Not to mention the fact that they re-use ~30 seconds or so when they come back from commercial breaks.
Filler episodes in series don't bother me too much, if the humor in them is done right. It's a peaks/valleys of action-type deal for me. I can handle even something as much as a filler episode every 3-4 plot-moving episodes... as long as it doesn't feel like a slog to get through.
Kinda like Fairy Tail. It's not perfect, and it's definitely longer running, but I find it much more enjoyable to watch and enjoy than DBZ. Not sure if that's just a product of the times changing or what, but even the filler episodes in there have some good entertainment value. The first part of Naruto was somewhat the same for me, but less enjoyable than Fairy Tail. I gave up when they switched to Naruto Shippuden though.
Also, Funimation (as much as I hate the company) needs to get an app on the PS4 already. I'm not subscribed to them, but I would in a heartbeat if they got their app on the console. Last I heard they only said they were working on an XBox ecosystem app, though, which sucks.badComment

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
So I started Fairy Tale, on episode 6. Just started talking about this Lullaby thing.
I also have never actually followed Gundam. There was one on Toonami back in the day I remember Vaguely watching now and then but never knew what was going on. I always found it interesting and looking on Google showed a good amount of series. Which ones do you guys recommend.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Anime/Manga Discussion Thread
08th MS team, 0080, 0083, Unicorn, with Char's Counterattack(requires past series knowledge) and F91 as movies. You're probably thinking about Wing, which doesn't hold up too well. Series like the original Gundam, Zeta, ZZ, and V require you to be into the chronology. 00 and Seed are also decent, it depends if you like older or newer Gundam. So I started Fairy Tale, on episode 6.
