It was just an adventure story like Dragon Ball was. Dunno why people hated it so much, other than not showing Pan as a Super Saiyan though she could theoretically do that - and it's been said (in typical fashion) that she may have become a type of Super Saiyan never seen before.

DBZ isn't any better or worse than GT when all is said and done. It pulled the same "Let's have Goku win at the expense of developing any of our characters." No worse than the Cell and Frieza sagas, even with 'power inflation' and randomness in plot holes/continuity.

That and most of Toonami acted as a gateway for me into anime. Would come home from school, catch Gundam Wing and DBZ and then went online and found more shows/genres to get into.

I didn't even know dbz and Pokémon were anime. Lol. Even yugioh.

It wasn't until Gundam, Inuyasha and Durarara! On toonami that I started to be like, "these shows seem different". Lol

Finished Nisekoi, a romantic comedy animated by Shaft. Shaft's style is weird, but it fit the show perfectly. While it turns a bit melodramatic and harem like near the end, it still has fun characters and good gags.

I love Shaft due to the monogatari series.

It varies show by show for me. Sometimes they like to go overboard and it feels disjointed. Mekakucity Actors is an example of this, overloaded on style but the substance is lacking.

Almost done with "Strike The Blood". Good vampire themed series, decent bits of fanservice and a wide variety of cast. Big fan of the way the character designs were done.

Spring season beings in April. This has to be one of the busiest seasons for me in a while. Asland, Nisekoi:, Wrong to pick up a girl in a dungeon?, Owari, Gunslinger Stratos, Fate/stay Night part 2, Plastic Memories, Kekkai Sensen, Hibeki!, Triage X, Ore Monogatari, Punch Line, Ninja Slayer all look good. Hopefully most of them wind up on Crunchyroll.

Finally finished Kill La Kill this weekend. I have to say, it got better and I'm glad I pushed through it. Endings of Aldnoah.Zero and Parasyte were okay. Tokyo Ghoul's finale was the best of them all imo, but it was a season finale I think so hopefully more to come soon. Need to catch up with Death Parade.

Nothing has caught my interest for spring so I will probably just be catching up with older series and movies.

I dropped Nisekoi real quick because of the terrible plot progression. It was cool at first though.

Just finished season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul, and all I have to say is I want more. Didn't think I would like this show with it focus on the story and character development but I did, and I'm glad I did. Can't wait for season 3. I would read the manga but that would make me not want to watch the show.

Now it time to watch some of the shows I missed out on in the Fall and Winter.

So watched DxD and Kekkai Sensen so far this season.

DxD after the first episode felt a little rushed a bit. It looks like they are doing LN 7 before 5 and 6 or at least explaining some stuff from LN 7 before hand. I trust the studio and Ishi (DxD author) did say he is happy the way it turned out. Also the studio said a lot of the budget went into the fights this season which is great considering there will be a good many this season. It was also surprising the OP contains no Fan service what so ever. Lol.

Kekkai Sensen seemed interesting. Some good action and interesting set up in the first episode even though they really didn't explain what's going on too much. Will give it a couple more episodes.

I been reading good stuff about Plastic Memories as well as another show that the name escapes me. The one I can't remember is about a 14 year old that has to win back his kingdom or something. God I can't remember that name.

Checked out some shows from this season, came away pleasantly surprised.

Punchline - Has the pace of Kill La Kill. Love the animation style and the humor.

Ore Monogatari(My Love Story) - I don't know what Madhouse is doing, but the animation is top notch for the characters. Finally something different in these rom com shows.

Plastic Memories - Solid show. A good mix of tear jerker and comedy. Although they sure are setting up for a gut punch of an ending.

Re-Kan and Gunslinger Stratos are also solid shows.
