I just remember catching random episodes, and being lost so I didn't have a good experience with this anime.

The only Anime show i've seen a good chunk of was Cowboy Bebop and Astro Boy both shows were great in their own way.

I'd like some recommendations on good sci-fi anime to check out.

      Thanks

Wow, didn't know we had a thread like this.

        Have fun.

In case you're wondering my love of JRPG's sort of gateway'd into anime for me a long time ago. It started way back with Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim (which remains my favorite one of all time), but I've recently gotten into subbed ones within the last two years or so.

Not everything on that list was to my taste, as you can tell from the ratings.

Yeah, that one's on my "plan to watch" list. It's basically made up of ones that I can't find legally, so they're on indefinite hold.

Also really want to see Madoka Magica, which from what I hear deconstructs one of my least favorite genres (magical girl) and therefore should be quite entertaining.

Definitely, definitely check out Ghost in the Shell. There are two theatrical releases, "Ghost in the Shell" and "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence", the series "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex" and two OVA's, "Individual Eleven" and "Solid State Society".

All episodes are up, they're separated into volumes; 1-6 with 4-5 episodes per volume adding up to 26 episodes.

Wow. Didn't even know we had a thread like this. Well, being the sports fan that I am I usually read sports manga. Some good reccomendations for some are...

1.) Eyeshield 21 - American Football manga. The only one (that I know of) in existence. It's damn good. Your sense of realism will have to be dispensed with though...Still eterntaining and can be down right hilarious because of the QB on the protagonist's team.

2.) Slam Dunk - The Holy Grail of sports manga. It transcended genres. The only two other mangas to outsell it is Dragonball(Z) and One Piece(which outsold Dragonball). It's a realistic basketball series and an absolute great read. Or, you can watch the anime.

3.) Fantasista - If you want realism in your soccer manga, plus incredibly detailed action (I've never had any problems following it like in other sports manga) this is the way to go. There's literally no suspension of belief in this manga at all.

4.) Prince of Tennis - Really, the only thing I can say is that I enjoyed it. Though, you would have to suspend your belief fairly far and just enjoy it. I wouldn't reccomend reading the sequel (Shin Prince of Tennis) because then it gets really out of hand.

How to get entirely the wrong idea about this series (AKA Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni): listen to this song first.

That will now be stuck in your head for at least a week (for me it was even longer). Enjoy!

This would be my preferred option, although I don't have Netflix at the moment. I'll check out their lineup and see if it's worth looking into, though.

Yeah, RahXephon is one of those I can watch pretty much anytime because it's a staple of Anime Network's streaming service. I'll get to it eventually.

Yeah, that song...and the series..... That furthers the disconnect caused by art style and actual action of the series.
