    New To TV Buying: Help?

I've searched for threads but didn't find a generic thread, just a bunch asking specific questions.

Anyways, I'm looking for something between 37" and 47" and in between $800-$1200.

I've searched through many reviews but thought I'd ask for some advice from some of you guys. What brands should I really keep my eye on?

    I found this...

    Samsung - 42" Class 720p Flat-Panel Plasma HDTV

Is that pretty good for the money?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

I think you should stop looking. That's an excellent tv you posted. Only the Panasonic is comparable in that price range.

1080p, 120hz, and it's LCD (just me personally, I'd always recommend LCD over plasma, both are great, just a personal preference).

Do you know if I could get that Vizio somewhere betsides Costco or Sams? I really don't want to get a membership card to either place just to buy something.

Would Target, Walmart, Circuit City or Best Buy have it?

Circuit City carries them, no clue on price. So does Sears. If you don't have a membership, I certainly wouldn't get one for the TV though, agree with you there.

Getting a membership is worth a thought. Both have very liberal return policies. I used to work at Sam's. They have a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy. You can cancel your membership at any time for a full refund.

If you're looking for a plasma, I'd personally be going for a Panasonic. I used to be a LCD only HDTV person, but i'm 95% sure my next tv will be a plasma. The colors are more natural and the black levels are better.

Lastly, you're a few months away from Black Friday. I'm sure there will be a decent selection of HDTVs to choose from at at lower than normal price.

I broke down last night and bought a 40" Sony Bravia.

                    Damn Peyton and the Chicken.
