Spinal Tap is pure brilliance - easily one of the best comedies ever. Plus, the music wasn't too bad either. Who doesn't love Big Bottom?!

Fight Club is #23 on IMDB's top 250. It's a great movie. It made it this far, because it deserves it.

I've never seen Spinal Tap, though - and it hasn't even been voted into the top 250 on IMDB.

Voted on by the general public; generally I take those more seriously than some list that 10 people who think they're brilliant movie critics. Almost 300,000 people voting on it with an average of 8.7; that's a pretty strong movie.

Older films generally do not get the recognition they deserve since the "general public" has yet (no desire) to see older films, so I take their rating with a grain of salt.

No offense to you, but maybe we should vote ONLY if you've seen both movies offered...and/or eliminate the votes if you've seen one accordingly.

Call me crazy, and I'm sure it's too much work, but voting for the movie you've seen only, as opposed to abstaining, seems a wee bit unfair.

I love Fight Club, and I'm surprised that a lot of OS'ers don't feel the same... Not in any way a jab at anybody, just caught me off-guard to see such different tastes.

Pretty much any of the Harry Sherer/Christopher Guest/Michael McKean productions are golden. Eugene Levy has his hand in a lot of their stuff as well. It's hilarious to watch Spinal Tap one minute and then A Mighty Wind the next knowing it's the same guys. If Spinal Tap would have been out in the last few years, it would probably win this.
