if you do go with the dish, just make sure you check all your signal strengths yourself before the techs leave your house.
I was new to the dish and didnt even know anything about where to check the signal strengths. Those bozos left me with signal strengths in the 60's on the 101 sat and on the 99 and 110 sat they were in ranging from 0-40. Took me a whole month to get them back out to my place to fix it.
They also totally did a hatchet job on the initial install.

This is where most of DTV problems are. They don't own the install companys and the installers don't get paid much, about $90 per install and most of the install companies make them pay for supplies, tools, gas, etc. I also don't know what the cut is for the install companies.

You have to watch the guys and make sure everything is to your liking before you sign anything and they leave. Its hit or miss with the installers. Once that is over, usually there are no other problems as long as you understand your terms of your contract.

If you have install issues, call DTV and they will give you $100 credit for missed appointments, major problems, etc.

The internet in not through the same dish. If you want internet, you have to get a second dish. Most people only use that if they can't get broadband at their house because they live in the middle of no where. DTV has discounts through AT&T and Verizon, possibly other phone companies and then you just use your DSL.

I bundled my internet through Quest and haven't had any complaints. It's high speed dial-up (which means I had to get a phone), but I don't notice a difference between that and the cable internet I had through Mediacom. Medicom would drop for me several times per month and Quest has been flawless. I just leave it connected and I haven't skipped a beat online.
