Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Unlike last year the show jumped right into the thick of it this year. Spoiler for those (probably most) who didn't watch
SpoilerTonight we see the results of Ballard's deal from last year, the fallout of doc Saunder's aka Whiskey knowing who/what she is. The scenes with her and Topher were golden i must say. Kind of expected the conclusion based on whats going on with Amy Acker, and lastly, Echo remembers all of her personalities, and remembers the "treatments", looks like she's going to try and get all the actives original personalities back in their bodies with Ballard helping.
Also it didn't look like they cut the budget at all for the show even though they did.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I found this episode to be very different.
I'm not sure how to describe it, but it definitely seems as if Whedon is trying to tell more in less time but moving time forward quickly.
There are several scenes that seemed to just happen. It wasn't bad, but it was different considering what I've come to expect from the show. Less background or buildup. More of the actual results. This was most telling with Whiskey and Topher.
I was initially worried that the storyline for this season would result in the clear end of this show, but then I realized that the history of the dollhouse and who actually runs it could cover another season or two. Whedon set himself up right because if the show isn't picked up after this year (assuming because the ratings still aren't great for this), at least we'll have closure with Echo (again, assuming that she and Ballard are successful)."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Honestly, I thought it was a horrible season premiere. It was extremely slow and there was no real 'point'.
I'll keep watching, but I was so disappointed by last nights episode after a great first season.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I think that's what I was feeling. There was no real point. It almost felt like a mid-season filler episode."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

If I hadn't see Epitaph One, then I might have liked this episode less, but its clear that this episode was made with the specific intent of moving all the storylines down the path toward that endgame.
I think that Joss wanted to go this way from the start, but the network interference with the start of last season delayed the implementation of his true vision.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Thats how i see it. I know Joss has a vision for where he wants to go, i just think that with the back nine up in the air he has to push things along slightly quicker than during his Buffy/Angel days. Again i liked it, wasn't the greatest episode but it had it served its purpose (though i friggin wish the Doc Saunder's story would have more time to develop. Good stuff there)If I hadn't see Epitaph One, then I might have liked this episode less, but its clear that this episode was made with the specific intent of moving all the storylines down the path toward that endgame.

Ok episode. Though i would have expected more from the writers of Reaper.
Highlight though was Miracle Laurie looking tasty. Best scenes of the show were with Madeline and Adelle too. You can sense the tension in the room.
Ratings continue to drop. I'm just waiting for the cancellation order any day now (though as a whole fox doesn't seem to know what its doing for fridays. I mean you lead in with two horrible sitcoms?? how about a Fringe repeat? y'know like it should have been when both shows were announced, AIRED TOGETHER!!?!?)HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
If after this upcoming Friday's episode the ratings drop any lower, there is a high probability that it will be the last episode of Dollhouse to air.
Only filmed 7 episodes so far, so the S2 DVD won't be complete either.Last edited by LionsFanNJ; 10-04-2009, 06:27 PM.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Yea, I don't see this show going on much longer and honestly, I'm not as impressed with it anymore. I watch it to watch it because I enjoyed the first season, but this season has been very bland."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Enjoyed last weeks episode... but once again... what's the point?
I just feel like there's no reason to care about anyone on the show.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Just annoying because I'm pretty sure this is the last thing Joss Whedon ever does for TV given the results of his last two shows(Firefly and Dollhouse). Oh well.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
That's what it is. It's all nice and dandy that she is aware and wants her life back, but it's five minutes of that sandwiched between an episodic story.
It's just a show where different things happen to her because of her given personality. That's not engaging enough. It might be time to accelerate the story and have her on the run or something."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
