    Survivor 49

    Show started tonight.

Obviously you can't judge people too much based on the first episode/first impression, but there's been some funny moments.

One person lost their shoe. I don't know if this should go in the OS Brain Fart thread but someone literally walks up to them and is like "Does it look like that one (points to the shoe that isn't missing)"......Uh, no kidding? Obviously you'd be looking for a shoe that matches your other shoe. What do you think, she's looking for a shoe that looks different than the one on her other foot?!

Listening to On Fire (Jeff's Survivor podcast), he talked about the alternates this season.

Sounds like TWO players got kicked off the season before it even started! Don't think that's ever happened before to even one player? Closest I can think is the person who got pulled from the game AFTER it started when producers found out they lied about their medication in order to be on the show (but producers found out it would be unsafe to go on the show due to that).

But getting kicked off BEFORE, and not even for a medical or family reason, that's unheard of.

The two players who got kicked off were talking a lot before the game started. When they were sequestered in ponderosa, you're not allowed to talk to anyone. But those two people kept talking to each other (likely pregaming) so they made the decision to take them out of the season.

The shoe thing, I don't think I like this seasons muscle man, he's not only gonna be muscle man, he's also gonna be nonsense man? That's gonna be too much. Maybe he'll end up being wildly entertaining, but foolishness right off the bat?

I have a theory that muscle man was throwing shoes on purpose to get evicted, and that didn't work, so he got bit by a snake instead

Of all the things about Survivor I know, I never knew they have a guidebook on site that players can reference.

I know Big Brother has a rulebook that players can check at any time, but didn't think Survivor had a similar thing relating to health and safety too.

Jake was just standing there by the water and I assume he never saw the snake. But even if he did, would he have known it was venomous because when Jeff told the players about the snake before that challenge, some players seemed so shocked like this was brand new information and they never heard about the snake or knew it was venomous, something that was mentioned in the book.

He's obviously lucky it was a "dry bite", because if it wasn't, I don't think this episode airs and/or the season as a whole might not have continued.

Crazy coincidence too, a week or so ago I was just randomly watching Survivor on Pluto TV and it was the Skupin fire scene. Not that Jakes was as bad as this since there was no venom involved, but this is definitely one of the scarier med evacs in Survivor history (up there with the other Russell on Samoa, and the Kaoh Rong 3 person medical scare during the challenge which was so crazy that it forced them to "break the fourth wall" for one of the first times ever on the show)

Like most modern seasons, there aren't many players to hate (but there are a bunch I just don't care about), but Shannon was getting a bit annoying on the island.

the thing with her and Sage was funny, Sage couldn't stand her but pretended til the end. Refusing to hug her but give her a handshake was a thing, it was weird to me, you faked it til tribal, you can't fake it for one more hug?

I think she didn't care to fake it anymore once the vote happened since there's no need to anymore, she's been voted out.
