Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1

A few weeks back I finally got around to seeing Zach and Miri Make a Porno. Holy Cow that was a tad nasty. Funny movie, I liked it.

That was one of my "Midnight Matinees". There are just some movies I will not even attempt to watch with my wife. I get a little embarrassed watching any movie with crudeness, sex, or adult situations with her, she is a bit of a prude, bless her heart. By myself, I love it, lol.

I watched Hamlet 2 last night. Although its style of humor isn't for everyone, I thought it was hilarious.

      Very underrated.

We got HBO and I've watched a lot of movies lately. I love these channels - there's always something on. In the last 2 weeks or so I've seen: I am Legend, 300, The Bourne Ultimatum, The Happening (one of the dumbest movies ever) and some other movies I'd wanted to see but never did.

Best thing is - no commercials, and no editing.

Though if there's an unrated/extended version, you'll only get to watch the theatrical. No biggie either way.

I finally got to see Kurosawa's Seven Samurai It's a movie i've been wanting to see for the longest time and it sure as hell didn't disappoint.

The characters are very rich and the pace of the film is perfect. It's like you're actually there rather then watching a movie. I loved the way the Samurai interacted with each other and the peasants as well. The movie isn't dead serious all the time as one character Kikuchiyo is mercurial and a bit of a loose cannon. I loved his speech about the plight of the peasants after the samurai found out that the peasants had killed retreating samurai warriors in the past.

The relationships in the movie are what make it worth watching and if you've never seen this movie then be like me and get out and see it ASAP! it's one of the best movies i've ever seen.

I saw Seven Samurai a couple years ago and its definitely epic. I'm glad I watched Seven Samurai first and then the Magnificent Seven, though or else I'm not sure I would appreciated it as much as I do.

I've seen The Magnificent Seven before and while that's an amazing movie I think Samurai is a couple shades better. There's deeper subtext and the way the movie moves along is a bit better then the remake.

                That's just my opinion

Saw The Hangover (Hilarious) and Lakeview Terrace (sort of crappy, but Jackson plays a great total jerk in it).

just watched Notorious last night. had to kick our pre-teen out the room ten min into the movie, but other wise I thought it was put together very well. good representative actors who weren't too B to pull off the role. it's still a sad reminder of the debacole the media made of the whole east vs. west coast and that it cost 2 very talented artist their life at such a young age.

Just finished Harsh Times. Actually hadn't even heard of it til a week ago. It was pretty damn good too. At first I thought Christian Bale was a little miscast, but by the end I felt like he kind of pulled it off.

It was hilarious wasn't it. One of those movies that I never gave a thought, happened to catch it on one of the premium channels and enjoyed it.

I watched "My Best Friend's Girlfriend." What a crappy movie. Took me two nights to finish it off. Watched Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist last night, also bordering on crappy.

                              The Horsemen

Very interesting movie. Sadly i want to see a little more than halfway, the movie becomes a little predictable. The cast was alright, nothing too spectacular but Zang Ziyi did an excellent job with her role of being very creepy.

The movie could of been much better though, but it was alright

                              7/10
