    Trainspotting
    3/5

Not what I expected, but still a good film. A major positive for me is the plot and characters making it obvious what was going on because I was lost for every third word those bloody Scots uttered! Not so much the accents but the word usage. The heck is going on in the UK?

But seriously, I love the dialogue. Even if I don't get it all, I can tell it made some damn good sense. Wasn't in love with the flick, but it kept me entertained.

    Tron
    3/5

Finally saw this. Next is Tron: Legacy. Likely late this week or early next week depending if Netflix sends it next.

I can see why this film has turned into more cult classic than actual classic. It isn't very good, but it's a fun sci-fi 80s film. The acting is pretty bad save for some moments where I think the bad acting helped make a scene funnier than it was intended.

Save all that, I didn't dislike the film so I won't give it a 2. I watched it, had fun watching it and that's enough. Also, not a bad use of visual effects for the time.

Source Code: Good. Very good, even. Confusing at points. And I'm still not sure how the ending works. But it's definitely worth your time.

I also wasn't aware Michelle Monaghan was still around. Good. I liked her in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.

Your Highness: Incredibly stupid. In a good way. It's just 90 minutes of stupid, stupid humor. But I enjoyed it. Don't take it too seriously, or seriously at all, and you'll have fun watching it.

      Plus, you know... Zooey!

          I have not.

It's one of those movies that I want to see, and it's always in the back of my mind, but there always seems to be something I'd rather see when I go to rent a movie.

Since you enjoyed Source Code, definitely check it out. Sam Rockwell is awesome, but the whole script is amazing.

Watch Moon, Dayman. I can't be your friend if you don't watch it.

Oh, you didn't know we were friends? Most don't.

I had never heard of Moon before. Just checked it out on IMDB and it sounds interesting. I'll have to wait for it to hit HBO or Showtime. I don't think I have a video store within 25 miles lol.

Yes, Sam Rockwell very underated actor! Enjoy his stuff. Moon was very good.

Watching Just Go With It. About 35 minutes in, and I'm going to turn it off. Not that funny, havent even laughed once, jokes are lame. Thought with cast it would be funnier.

finally got a chance to catch The Social Network last night. Excellent movie, though it doesn't put Zuckerberg in much of a good light as i truly thought he was an *** from watching the movie. Then again if an actor can convince you that much that you don't like someone then he's done his job. Eisenberg was great as Mark. Surprised at the job Justin Timberlake did as well though just about every movie I've seen him in so far he hasn't done a bad job.

He definitely is. I even love his earlier work in Galaxy Quest as "Guy". He has great facial expressions. Although I didn't like the role he was put in in IM2, I hope it will give him the experience he needs to do better roles.

"Guy" in Galaxy Quest.... huge spoiler scenes:

                              The Killing

Going back to the early days of Kubrick here. Its about a horse track robbery and the plot is probably the tightest story I have ever seen on screen. There is pretty much no wasted time or scenes that don't build upon the plot. Its a straight through 90 minutes of build-up and two amazing climaxes.

The most obvious to me was how "raw" this was. It didn't feel so much as a movie as some type of crime drama reenactment with the horse racing footage and the narration throughout. Sterling Hayden delivers his lines with such relentless efficiency that it is initially off-putting, but as the film progresses he truly becomes the star. Considering some of the other roles, that is high praise. Georgie looks like a fore-runner for Jack Torrance and his character development is fantastic to watch unfold during the course of the film. Since I'm more familiar with Kubrick's "color" films, I wasn't sure how the B&W would affect his atmosphere, but he truly captures the atmosphere in his shots.

Overall an awesome film. Not quite as polished as his later works, but the script and story are amazing as is the entire cast.

The first I really remember seeing him was in The Green Mile, he was great in that movie. I've enjoyed everything he's done since.
