Now watching "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on the Disney Channel. A little too early to show a Christmas movie. The music in this is so Tim Burton. Its ghoulish and depressing. This is one of those that can be a Halloween and Christmas movie. I used to watch this, when I was a kid.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
22 Jump Street - saw this when it was in theaters and thought it was a solid funny sequel. Upon renting it again for my wife to watch, wasn't as good. I guess knowing when the jokes were gonna hit made it not as funny. In their place, some of the smaller more subtle jokes were good.
The Giver - never read the book so the movie was pretty good because it's just a cool concept and story. But I can imagine reading the book is infinitely better then how it was portrayed on the screen. Worth a rent from Redbox or stream on Netflix when available but I probably wouldn't pay $5 to rent on-demand.
Let's Be Cops - I like the two actors (New Girl is pretty funny), and it had its moments. Probably wouldn't watch again but it'll get a few laughs out of you. Same deal as The Giver, worth seeing but probably not worth paying too much to watch.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Lucy - What a weird and strange movie this was. I gave it a shot and pretty much just powered through it until the end as it didnt really hold my attention.Comment

Infernal Affairs. They finally put it on Netflix, was good to watch it again. It's the movie that was the basis for the Departed. I actually saw Infernal Affairs first and even with a solid movie in The Departed, I actually like Infernal Affairs a bit more.Comment

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Awesome. Possibly even better than the first. Koba was a badass and one moment in particular when he's riding a horse had me going "holy ****!". The final act is maybe a little too "by the books" but it was still a satisfying ending and I'm really looking forward to where they go with a third movie. Quality all around.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I didn't really like Rise (at least everything after Caesar is captured, but even more so after the apes break loose), but I can't wait to get Dawn on Blu-ray, which is quite ironic because I thought that would mean I would like it less, but it was just better with the subtitle interaction and such.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I had not seen rise in till like a month or 2 ago has I had no interest to see it but I then wanted to see it after I saw dawn because I thought dawn was great. I found rise to be good but dawn is way way better.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Now watching "The Santa Clause" on ABC Family. The Tim Allen movie that surprised us all back in the 90s. A good family movie for Christmas. I highly recommend it. Its a modern day take on the Santa Claus origin story.
Scott Calvin: "He's naked somewhere."
That line always makes me laugh.Last edited by bradtxmale; 12-02-2014, 09:15 PM.Comment

The Hunt (Jagten) - Hands down, the best acting performance I've ever seen in a movie. I've always loved Mads Mikkelsen, but this is just stunning. The movie itself is outstanding, even though it's one of the hardest movies I've ever seen. The story is so realistic and scary that you're gripped from the first minute to the last.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, and like thrillers, definitely check it out.
My first 10/10 in a looooong time.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Watched Nightcrawler yesterday and, while it was an awesome performance by Jake G and there were some tense scenes....there really was no point.
Still a good movie and worth a watch for Gyllenhalls performance alone.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Last Sunday morning we took our 7 year old to see Big Hero 6. I've mentioned this previously on here that he has Autism but high functioning. On previous attempts at taking him to the movies we have only lasted 30/45 minutes as he is sometimes sensitive to very loud sounds and large crowds. I can proudly say he sat through the entire movie no problem for the first time ever! The movie was really good, thoroughly enjoyed it. Had some really good humor in it as well.Comment

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Finally got to see it and its fantastic, definitely one of my favorite movies of the year. Its the best cgi ever, i honestly felt like i was watching real talking apes lol. Avatar doesn't touch this movie.
Caesar was fantastic. One of the best characters of the year. Its one of those few movies where you aren't sure which side to agree with. I was torn and seen all the points.Comment
