And I'm completely fine with that. I invested just as much time into this show as you did, and I came out loving every second of it (minus the first half of season three). All of the supernatural, unexplainable, un-graspable things that happened were there because the character's decisions on how to deal with those things, and the characters reactions to each of those things, are what were important. Not the things themselves.

I would have much rather watched it through my eyes than some of yours, let me tell you that.

Beleive me, I understand what you are saying. I will be ok. It was just a show to me so really when I wake up tomorrow I will prob not think about lost too much.

Its just that I didn't watch lost in 2004 till now. I watched it in 08 and watched the entire series twice so things are a bit more fresh and some things i waited and waited but were never explained.

things like the whole deal between widemore and ben. the whole "rules" the game jacob was playing.

They even seemed to contradict themselves/ make no sense sometimes with the way they were telling their story. for instance "if the light goes out itll be the end of the world"

2 episodes later, light goes out, island shakes. the world survives.

"if you go into the tunnel, something worse than hell will happen to you. "

MIB falls in turns into smoke monster.

Jack and desmond go in and see some bones but nothing happens to them.

I almost want to say that instead of the whole "purgatory/afterlife" flashes, they should have told the story and had "island flashes" which could have incorporated jacob/mib episode, richards, and also told a lot more about the island and rules and what all the mythology is. then you could have had the main story end with jack dying still and going to the afterlife/talking with his dad.


Im not totally disappointed, I just think they could have done a better job or told it differently. I think they tried to get "out of the box" and be unique and unfortunately I think they failed. I think they made the wrong decision.

Well, it was better than the Seinfeld finale, lol.

I really had to force myself to watch the last 3 seasons. I felt like the show really lost its focus after the Original 6 made it off the island.

The ending at least tried to wrap things up into a tidy package ... but there's still a lot of questions.

This show has always been open to interpretations, so I don't know if there's one "correct" answer as to what the show was actually about or what the ending meant. However you viewed and made sense of the show will leave you with a different perspective on the ending than another person that saw the show in a different light.

I knew from the start of the season that the finale would end in this fashion.

I didn't see purgatory or heaven or anything like that at all. But, it's cool that others did. Never even crossed my mind until I read this thread.

I thought the ending was fitting. It was about the characters and mostly the Island. The Island story ended just as it should. Jack dies finding a purpose. Desmond gets to go home. Hurley does what he does best. Ben sees the benefit of being a great side kick. Miles, Claire, Lapidus, Kate, Sawyer and Alpert get off the Island to live normal lives.

That's all I cared about. I got all the answers I really needed. Do I want to know the Man in Black's real name? Sure, but it obviously didn't really matter.

As for the Flash-Sideways...well, I think it's open for interpretation. We already knew that the concept of a flash-sideways was going to open the door for a confusing connection. I think it did just that and honestly, since I never liked the flash-sideways, I don't care what happened there.

As a screenwriter myself, a cardinal rule is never kill off all your characters to end.

With that being said, the side-ways universe connection was brilliant however there were no revelations about the island, its impact in the universe.

It ended like The Matrix, a beam of light.

Very anti-climactic battle with man in black.

Overall pleased but it didnt blow me away like I wanted to.

I'm not getting pissy, I'm genuinely interested in how, as a die hard Lost fan, I was duped?

And if all you were saying in that post was that you stopped watching at season 3, you wouldn't have included: "I know the loyal fans will try hard to convince themselves from otherwise, but uh, they got duped."

No, your jaws are definitely tightened and there's no need for it. I feel that "duped" is fitting with how it ended.

All I remember is here on OS and across the wholez internetz is that those that quit on Lost did so because they weren't "savvy enough", if you will. Now, with this ending, the backpedalling is on full throttle. I say duped because everyone was told that everything going on will get explained and would have meaning. We're now being told that half of this show should be "out-of-sight, out-of-mind", it was all about the characters AND the show wasn't for those looking for logic. Sorry, but mucho backpedalling there.

Like I said, nothing wrong with loving the show. That's fantastic. But I just don't appreciate the revising of history here. It irks me. People will stay thinking I'm trying to do whatever, but it's not wrong to think that at a certain point, these guys BSed it most of the series for the sake of the series. Many loyal fans won't feel that way. They won't feel duped. Fine.
