Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
Hopefully they do an extended cut Blu Ray release like LOTR. A few more scenes focusing on survival and another scene or two with Rue would be cool.Comment

Yess one of my issues with the movie was rue and katniss alliance wasn't fleshed out as well. It was pretty rushed

It looks at how government can abuse its people without any consequences at all. Any government that would kill innocent children just to serve as a warning is one that should not exist. That's the overall struggle that you get with Katniss as she progresses through the Games in the book.Comment

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
I thought the movie was great and thought it went along with the book just fine. I'm fine with what they left out of the movie. The only thing I wish they had mentioned was why Haymitch is the drunk that he is. Maybe it was in one of the other books that explained the stresses of him being a mentor and that's why it wasn't mentioned, I can't remember. But he just came off as a drunk in the movie without the real realization to the audience of why he's like that.

I agree. A few things like that were missed, but overall I can't complain at all about the movie. I thought it was a very enjoyable movie and captured most of the book pretty well.I thought the movie was great and thought it went along with the book just fine. The only thing I wish they would have done more with in the movie was the relationship between Katniss and Haymitch and how much alike they are. Other than that I don't have a problem really with any of the omissions in the movie. You just can't make a perfect adaptation of a book in a movie without making it ridiculously long.Comment

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
I just started reading it the other night and am already 100 pages in. Very good read so far. Looking forward to seeing the movie, hopefully next weekend. My wife is itching to go, as she's read all the books, but is going to wait for me to at least finish the first book before we go.
Good thing is that I'll have all the books read by the time the next movie drops.Currently Playing:

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
LOVED the movie. I read all three books within about 3 or 4 days, so pretty big fan of it I guess lol. Thought they did a great job. Obviously certain things got left out, and I didn't really have a problem with it. Though....
Spoiler
I really wanted to see Haymitch fall off the stage in the beginning. Don't know why, was always a big fan of that in the books.
Thought the acting was great throughout, which surprised me. I was expecting the guy who played Peeta to suck, but I thought he did a solid job. I felt they just got the overall mood of the book right and translated it well to the big screen.
All in all, very happy and it met my expectations. Can't wait to see the next one. Or see this again a couple more times.Comment

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
I should hope everyone would have realized that by now, especially those of us who have read the trilogy :P.SpoilerThe similarities between Katniss/Haymitch were a big part of the first book, and it sets up things that we see in both Catching Fire and Mockingjay. So I was just saying it would have been a good thing to show in the movie considering it was in the first book and it is important to have that foundation of knowledge later on.Comment
