Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
I saw it the day after it came out. I thought it was pretty good, but there were quite a few parts I thought would have just been plain different or they were missing.
I loved the books though, and if they make movies on the next two I will see them right away too.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
Saw it with the wife this weekend. Both of us read the books and both liked the movie a lot. A few minor things here and there, but for the most part I can't remember a movie that did as good of a job of capturing the book as this movie did.
Since the books was still somewhat fresh in my mind, I found myself anticipating what was coming up next and was really never let down.Comment

An extended version would be AWESOME. Hopefully they have that for the blu-ray. I'd be all over it.Comment

I wish they would have made a rated r version. I think that could portray the books a lot betterCincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

I'm planning on seeing a movie today and was wondering what this is all about. Never even heard of any of the books before.

Re: The Hunger Games (movie) - March 23rd
Just saw the movie and I thought it was great! Jennifer Lawrence totally brought it. Actually, the whole cast was pretty great.
I was actually quite surprised at the amount of violence but I was happy that it wasn't neutered.SpoilerThe bloodbath at the start of the games was a nice example of this. Most of the younger kids died pretty violently but the way it was depicted wasn't too grisly.
The only thing I didn't really get wasSpoilerKatniss' feelings for Peeta. Was she just playing it up for the audience or was there something genuine there? I thought she was genuine when she found him by the river and took care of him in the cave but by the end, it looked like she just did all that for show.
Can't wait for this to come out on bluray. I'm also tempted to read the books now so good job, movie version!Comment

The book makes that a bit more clear than the movie does. Also (another kinda book spoiler) Katniss makes it clear in the book that Gale is not her boyfriend but in the movie it really seems like he is...I felt so anyway. I saw the movie before reading the book however.[NYK|DAL|VT]

The "that was a kiss?" note from Haymitch didn't seem like it would make a lot of sense to people who hadn't read the book.
Overall I liked the conversion from book to movie. There was some technical stuff I didn't like. It seemed like every fight they had the camera right in the tributes' faces and just shook it violently. I know they had to keep it PG-13, but this is a pretty gruesome story.Comment
