        It's official-the final 8 episodes begin August 11th.

        Breaking Bad The Final 8

And this within the above article:

As previously reported, the saga of "Breaking Bad" may not be completely over, after all, and it's all courtesy of Saul Goodman. AMC, show creator Vince Gillian, and actor Bob Odenkirk are talking about the possibility of putting a Saul-centered spin-off show on the air at some point after the series wraps up this year,

As much as I really like the Saul character (a hell of a lot) I just don't know about a spinoff.

It's not that I don't think they could pull it off (they definitely could) but once Breaking Bad ends, it just wouldn't feel right to continue with a different storyline in that "universe" so to speak. I have a feeling that the finale of this show is going to be on another level, so I think the ending should stand on its own.

I don't really know what the hell a show focusing on Saul would be about? I mean, I know he is in some different businesses, but doesn't seem like it would be very interesting for long, especially with no Jesse or Walter.

I imagine it would be more of a comedy with Saul as the main character.

Like, every week he'd have a new case to work on and they'd have guest stars as his clients and such.

An interesting idea, no doubt, but I just don't want them to bastardize the main show.

Eh, Breaking Bad will always be Breaking Bad. What they do with Saul won't change that.

I look forward to it and hope it actually happens. Just because they use the character doesn't mean it has to happen in the same universe.

I definitely see it being more of a comedy centered around Saul. And I would expect it to potentially be in an entirely different place (fleeing New Mexico by the end of the final BB season), so it would be in an entirely different universe with maybe a few allusions to the happenings of Breaking Bad here and there.

I'd love to see such a spin-off happen.

Bryan Cranston did an AMA a few days ago. Very cool stuff.

I don't like his proof. That's Hal; not Heisenberg.

He really needs to have the RIGHT movie roles when this is said and done.... too good of an actor. No more:

They're giving Cranston the type of second banana roles they gave Gandolfini. Look at Michael Chiklis. None of these unconventional TV leading man types got a chance to head a movie. Of course there is always the typecasting element.

True, but look at the expanse of roles Cranston has done as compared to those two. Maybe he can venture back into the comedic realm.
