Forgot about this one, but I completely agree. I don't like Jay-Z at all.

        I agree with that.

I don't really like the Beatles, though I enjoy a few of their songs, but not recognizing their impact on the music industry is crazy. Easily one of, if not THE, most influential bands ever.

I always figured I could escape the Canada beatings by posting in threads not named "Off Topic 2010" or "Off Topic 2011". Thanks for proving this wrong.

You're ignorance is amusing and sad at the same time.

I just assumed that comment was meant to ruffle feathers and not at all serious. That's what I'm hoping at least.

Granted, I generally don't like hip hop/rap, but I can at least see the appeal/skill for a lot of them, I don't with Wayne.

I don't mind heavy metal/rock having some screams, although I don't like when the entire vocal is screaming/growling, because it takes from the instrumental, IMO.
Just as far as the screaming thing it's how you think about it. Instead of thinking of the screaming as vocals think of it as another instrument. A lot of bands do it to add a slower more natural beat to the absurdly fast moving drums and you'll notice that screamers generally opt for very pronounced syllables and rhythms in screams as if it is a percussive instrument.

Also what screaming bands have you been listening to? Some are more accessible than others.

I know it was half-joking, but judging from the past few posts, it was also just as serious as it was a joke. Whatever though....

I've heard that from a few of my friends, and it's why I'll never criticize anyone for liking it. It's different tastes, that's all.

For me, though, I pay attention to the lyrics/vocals more than anything else in whatever music I listen to. The background instruments or the beats are second, so the screaming and all of that just completely turns me off to that type of music.

Makes sense. I have some friends that think the same thing and I do listen to some genres of music in the same way that you do. A few of my friends did overcome that though because after they listened to enough of it they could listen to it like they would any other music without cringing.

Also I agree with the guy that said the Beatles are overrated. Now this isn't to say that they aren't good and I'm not denying their influence. They just aren't g.o.a.t like people make them out to be.

I don't think anyone is necessarily forcing you to like them. I think it's enough, if you don't like them, to respect the work they did and what they did for the music industry.

Also, I feel Lil Wayne and the Black Eyed Peas, along with Kesha, are the worst things to have happened to music in years and are horrifically bad hacks.
Ke$ha is not garbage. Anyway, I have some more.

T.I. hasn't been as good as he can be in years. King was phenomenal, but it's been a dropoff ever since. T.I. vs. T.I.P. had some good songs, as did Paper Trail, but the rest weren't great, and IMO No Mercy only has one good song on it.

Obie Trice is one of the most underrated rappers I can think of.

Kanye's new album is not his best one. I'd rank them as follows:

                                1. Late Registration
                                2. Graduation
                                3. College Dropout
                                4. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
                                5. 808's and Heartbreak

I HATE Led Zeppelin's music...other than Kashmir, that song goes hard in the paint.
