Just like nobody who owns PS3 is going to care when halo 3 beta comes out for X360...what's your point again?

It's not a Halo killer, it's Sony's answer for Sony fans that rivals the types of genre like Halo. The first was anything but great, but you seen the potential in the future. Personally, I wished the human race wore those helmets...they looked unbelievably cool..

The ps3 hasn't sold very well and there are a lot more people who will play Halo than killzone, I can gurantee that. It makes no sense to counter one of the biggest franchises ever with a game that barely anyone remembers or cares about, outside of them releasing a cgi video and trying to pass it off as real. The amount of coverage given to halo already is staggeing and with them releasing something that people actually get to play there's going to be a lot more coverage. If you think that releasing a demo of a game that isn't Madden or GTA is going to counter anything that Bungie puts out then have fun but you need to think rationally before you try to call me out.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I could see you really like Halo....as do many people.

PS3 wishes to establish that kind of fanbase on their side...so their answer is Killzone for Ps3 owners. It's as simple as that.

I actually don't like Halo that much but it's common sense. If you look at the coverage just on speculation of a trailer then you would see that it's crazy to think that you can counter anything that huge with a game like Killzone. It's not very smart to try to get a huge fanbase when nobody is going to care when you release the demo.

Re: Killzone 2.....(Real in Game Footage)

What I think Jmood is trying to say is that Halo is so huge that nothing the ps3 could do would dent it.

And by trying to rob some of Halo 3's fan base isn't going to work because they extremely in love with the Halo series.

The best analogy I could come up with is this; you're knocking around whatever hollywood hottie you like most. (Halo series) Why would you go on the corner and pick up a night walker? (Killzone)

And while Killzone may not be said to be a Halo killer. It has little chance to be noticed with the gearing up before the Halo 3 beta.

But yes you are right, those helmets are sweet.

And you tell me to think rationally? Your premises is Killzone sucked, so abandon it overall...apparently the Sony developers seemed to have invested too much in it to drop the title...so they decide to improve upon the mistakes in the first installment. Yeah, I know, it's really flabbergasting...

Halo fans may not care for it, but those who liked the first Killzone will tune in, not to mention the PS3 owners....It may not get the same amount of hype as Halo or MGS series, but I guess you have to start somewhere? First..maybe start with the CGI video ? Then, IDK maybe the demo?

My premise is that it was universally panned and most people I've talked to hated it and it makes no sense to release a demo around the Halo beta. I never said anything about dropping it but you tell me how releasing a demo to counter a game as big as Halo 3 is going to do anything to help it. There's a reason why when Halo 2 came out most games weren't released on or around the day.

Do you not understand marketing? If you own a ps3, you'll be happy to learn a demo of Killzone 2 is going to come around the same time that halo 3 beta drops for X360. It doesn't matter if your buds liked it or not, the world is larger than that....maybe that's why Sony created official websites dedicated to this franchise in global languages like Russian, Japanese,NA, European, etc.. lol

I'm done making sense to you.

It's funny you're asking if I understand marketing when you don't recognize the fact that releasing anything against something much more popular than what you are selling, when you are in the same industry, really doesn't make sense. What I or anyone else thinks about killzone doesn't really matter but you fail to even aknowledge the fact that Halo isn't just some game that a few people like, Halo is on Madden's level and might surpass it when it comes to popularity. You can try to belittle me or ignore my points if you want but that doesn't make you any more right. Again, tell me how it makes sense to release a demo for killzone against Halo 3's beta. Not only will it get little or no coverage at all by the gaming media, but many people just won't care. There are very few people who own a ps3 compared to the number of people who own the xbox 360 and there are many more people who bought Halo 2 and care about Halo 3 than people who care about anything related to Killzone.

Ok, one last time, so you perfectly understand why you're wrong.

Halo has a staggering fanbase like you said, true. How does this help Sony??? It doesn't. It takes away from their fanbase. So their answer from the beginning was Killzone. They didn't come to HALO's success with the first one, they probably won't come close to this generation's success either, but they vowed to improve on it, and arguably with the CGI video shown in E3, they gained more publicity than their first try. Now they see an opportunity to rival the likes of Halo when it comes out, so they drop Killzone 2 demo arouynd the same timeframe....FOR SONY PLAYSTATION 3 OWNERS!!

Get it? Maybe someone can help you out.

The page said that they were releasing it with the intent of countering the Halo 3 beta. Releasing it just to release it is one thing but trying to counter it is completely different. You should read my comments and see what I was referring to before you try to insult me.

First you say that they are just releasing it for ps3 owners now you're saying that they have to be countering it because that's what all games try to do. Like I've said numerous times, releasing a demo at or around the date of the halo 3 beta to try to get attention will not work. Yes there are people who just own ps3's but there are also people who own both the ps3 and the xbox 360 and the Halo 3 beta is going to be huge news, regardless of what console it is on. Why release it anywhere near that date when you can release it on a seperate date and not have to worry about it getting lost in the shuffle when the Halo beta comes out? Tell me how much sense it makes to willing subject your product to becoming overshadowed by a much more popular game.

but isn't that exactly what it's doing by releasing it on the same day? They're giving people a alternative to Halo 3... thus giving FPS fans a counter option. That's what I got out of it at least.

They won't help themselves at all by allowing their game to get overshadowed.
