    buying multiple xbox 360s

ive got the opportunity to reserve 2 xbox 360s planning to sell 1 one on ebay right wen it comes out.

On ebay with he PS2 it sold for around $500(dont exactly remember but it was signifigantly higher than the SRP) right after the release.
do you guys thnk the same will happen with the xbox if i sell it right after release?
    so my main question is...
Will i make money selling one xbox 360 on ebay right after launch?
    if so
how much do u thnk i could sell for?(assuming the retail price is $400)

I hate people that do that. If the system is in short demand, you're taking away from someone who really wants it. I hope there are plenty of them and you get stuck with 2 systems.

      I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I hope that the 360 that you decide to keep short circuits on you and you get no refund on it.

lol. becareful. think of all those who are wanting to do the same as you. THere might be a better variety ONLINe than anwhere else. You could end up making a few dollars, especially if you take pictures of the actual box and not some stock picture. That always helps. Then again, there could be an excess in demand, especially if your starting price is above MSRP and there are thousands of units to choose from........... The longer it doesnt sell, the less you'll make. And we know all 1,000 auctions won't sell. They'll be a few to slip through the cracks. You might have to give them buyers a 'BARGAIN' because they'll be plenty to choose from. lol. then again, maybe demand is SO high and the stores don't have it, then you're quite lucky and could make 500-600.

If you do sell it, don't accept PAYPAL. Milllions have gotten scammed already. so watch out. especially on electronic equipment.

I thought of doing this for the PSP, but sales on ebay showed that about 10 people made 50 dollar profit, while others are barely breaking even.

I'd try to find out from a place like walmart, how many they are expecting, and go from there.

If someone buys it for $500 umm... I think they are the ones that "really want it" LOL

Seriously though, more will come out. Let him make a few bucks. First batch isn't the best batch anyway. The first PS2s and the first Xboxs had issues >.>

EDIT: Might wanna think a sec before you do it though. These systems require HDTVs so that'll cutdown on the demand. People gotta buy the HDTV first (most people don't have one)

The system does not require a HDTV to work. It's optimized for HD, but not required.

If that's how you need to make money, then you should find a new job. And I agree, obviously if he sells it for $500, then the idiot paying that really wants it. I have a feeling the 360 will be like the PSP, they will be all over the place during and after launch.

dude what's the big deal, it's all about making a buck, you can't hate the guy for that. If it was up to me I would buy ten and sell them on ebay. I could careless about someone else wanting bad, if that person want's one bad enough, Hell they can buy it from me. If I can make some good money, don't hate.

It's all about making a buck? Using ebay to hijack people into paying higher prices? That's is what it's all about? Like I said, I hope everyone with this plan does it, and it's just like the PSP where all these people on Ebay got stuck selling them for retail price, therefore losing money when Ebay and Paypal fees come calling. Good luck.

I never said I really was doing it myself, cause I'm not, just don't have the money and time to get caught up in that, but Like I said it just seems like your just haten about the whole thing. Your not buying one off of ebay so why do you care so much?

Because one day that could be me, having some idiot buy up all of the item my kid wants for Xmas or something, and I want him to have it, now I have to pay twice the price just because someone bought 10 of it.

                        Are you kidding?

The "price" of something is whatever someone is willing to pay for it. No one is "hijacking" anyone. Is someone is willing to pay a higher price, let them. They could either A) buy it on ebay, B) makes sure they secure themselves one around launch time (reserves, standing in line, etc.) C) Wait until stock get replenished at someplace selling for retail D) not get it at all.

                        It all a choice.

For example, if Target was selling a bar of soap for 2.99 that Wal Mart had for 2.58, but Wal Mart was out of stock, I could decide to pay the premium at Target for the immediacy of having the soap NOW, instead of waiting for Wal Mart to receive shipment. Target is in no way "hijacking" me or other interested soap buyers in paying Target's price(although IU would never buy anything at Walmart at any price, but that is thrown out of this hypothetical situation for comparison's sake). Choices are invoked at every level. If you're stuck without any product at a given time and are whining about people who thought ahead, well, you should've picked option B above like they did.

That said, I think manufacturers have learned from the whole PS2 fiasco. I don't think people will be paying exorbitant prices on ebay. THis plan fizzled out on plenty of people with the XBox launch, when replenishment shipments arrived weekly.
I drive a 2005 Toyota Prius Gas/Electric Hybrid. My last tank was 53.6 miles/gallon. Gas prices fear me!

Oversimplification is the escape of men who want to avoid the duty demanded by true understanding.

While I completely see your point, and I'm not trying to argue here, but it's not exactly the same. Not a single store, online shop, or any place will sell the Xbox 360 for under or higher it's retail price. Bundles don't count. But even then, everyone here complains about the bundles, and how EB or Gamestop is ripping them off.

That's all I was trying to say, I'm not a fan of trying to make money off someone else. You don't have a retail license to sell it, so why charge double what you paid, not like you had to go through anything special to get it.

But in the end, I totally agree, there will be plenty of Xbox 360's out there, just like there were plenty of PSP's.

Like I said it's all about making a buck, thats what it will always be about. Just like sports, you ask me If I like scalpers. I say, I don't hate on what anyone does, hey thats the way he makes his money more power to him, if you going to buy a ticket from a scalper then thats your problem, and if you buy it from him for a crazy price, no disrespect, but you will look like the sucker not him. So maybe your a better person then a scapler and maybe your a better person then me, but when it comes to it, Your not paying his bills or mine or anyone else's, so that why it's all about making the buck.
