Don't you guys think that they might wanna push the release date up a bit? I mean the buzz for this game has grown out of nowhere, but it could die down in 3 weeks. I think if they pushed this up two weeks they'd be happy....or I'd be happy.

Boy, do I wish they'd push up the release date. It went gold a week and a half ago, I believe.

        Crackdown Interview

So are you saying that there will be another Crackdown game in the future?

Phil Wilson: Crackdown was designed from the outset to be a franchise. It was such a massive investment of time, effort, and money to get the first one created. You know, there's a lot of new technology in there and a lot of new ideas that we spent a lot of time prototyping. It wouldn't make any sense to stop at this point, assuming that the game turns out to be a success. It makes complete sense to carry on and do some more.

Phil Wilson: We love Crackdown, but it's really just a foundation for some truly mind-bendingly brilliant things that we could do in the future.

Billy Thomson: We haven't really even touched on some of the gadgets and things that we could be doing. The nice thing about our style of game and the Agency and that biotechnology thing we've got going on is that we can bend the rules a lot more than games like GTA. They're kind of confined to the real world in a sense. We've got the ability to take it a little further than anyone else can. There are a lot of gadgets that I'm absolutely dying to see.

Phil Wilson: We're not just talking sequel for this stuff, either. We are looking at DLC right now, and we want to provide more game modes for Pacific City and more toys to mess about with. Some of the toys we're talking... man, you could build entire game modes around them.

Billy Thomson: The things that we want to put in are all based on how fun they are to use, and how much you're going to laugh when you use them. I think that if you can get people laughing when they're playing the game, it's much, much better than taking it all serious. I don't always want a serious storyline unfolding as the plot, I just want to have a laugh when I'm playing.
Speaking of downloadable content, I couldn't help noticing that there weren't a full 1000 achievement points. Are we going to be seeing achievements tied to the downloadable content?

Phil Wilson: Absolutely, yeah, that was the intention, that's why we held them back. So, there are a hundred achievement points reserved for DLC, and I think we're at 43 achievements, so we've got room for 7 more.

The more I play this game the more impressed I am. The first time I played the demo I thought the visuals were great but I wasn't too sure about the gameplay. I thought it might get old pretty quick. After giving it some more time, I was wrong. The things you can do in this game are crazy. I leveled up my jumping and firearms last night and had a blast jumping around and blasting people while in mid air. I played the demo for 3+ hours last night. This game is like GTA on steroids.

My guess is because there's no real story to it. Doesn't bother me, though. The game is fun as hell.

'Halo 3' Gives 'Crackdown' A Boost — And That's Just Fine With Its Creator
David Jones says he knew hard-to-explain game 'would need as much help as it could get.'

"We kind of knew 'Crackdown' would need as much help as it could get to get into players' hands," Jones said. "Like we've always said: It's a game player's game. It's not something that's going to sell in screenshots. So that was good."
"Really the crux of the whole game design was, 'How do we reward somebody for just having fun?' " he said. People like to blow things up in games? Well then every time they blow something up will allow them to cause grander and grander explosions. They like running over bad guys? Give them driving points that eventually enable them to commandeer an SUV that can drive up the sides of buildings. Xbox 360 games could have up to 50 official Achievements to accomplish in a game and compare against friends for bragging rights? Jones said his team planned for 200 and asked Microsoft to lift the maximum cap.

"They were only allowing 50, and we were saying, 'Oh, that's going to cripple us,' " Jones said. "Eventually they announced they were going to a higher number." Now they're offering 80, which Jones said is the new Microsoft max.
So this is the game's tale inside and out: an underdog's fight with a little help from a friend and some tricks up the super-powered sleeve. For Jones, though, there is an alternative. He could just make a good screenshot game next time. He could play it safe — maybe make a World War II first-person shooter? "No, there's plenty of those," he said. "Somebody's got to take risks."

I completely agree with his comment, "it's a gameplayer's game."

The first time I played the demo, that's just what I thought. It's probably the best representation of what a videogame should be, fun.

I love the game. There is the possibility that it gets broing quick, but with online co-op, that'll help. Where else can you play basketball with taken down thugs and a dumpster?

Exactly what I was doing in one of my recent sessions, but I was also throwing 55 gal drums in there and blowing the corpses up 100+ feet skyward

I'll probably rent this game at first. I want to pre-order it for the Halo 3 demo, but i'm not sure if I'd play Crackdown enough to justify the $59.99 pricetag.

If i'm not bored of it by time I have to return it, i'll probably buy it.

but with it being an open ended sandbox type game that is the whole point it don't get boring too quick

I've already played the demo about 15 times. And I'm not bored. I've NEVER played a demo that much. This is a no brainer purchase for me, Halo 3 beta or not.
