EGM Babble...
I don't believe too much from EGM, especially the Rumor Mill. But this comes from their "Power of 3" Article about the PS3.
Some sports developers who wished to remain anonymous tell us that the brand-new game engines they just created for Xbox 360 titles will also be used in creating the PS3 installments (in a nutshell, it would be a waste of development dollars and time to start from scratch again). So don't expect too many differences between sports titles on either platform.University of Evansville Graduate

LOL. For the longest time, the majority of games were created for PS2 and then ported to xbox (minus 2k games) and now its switched. I guess thats what PS3 gets for waiting.Originally posted by bryan_05I don't believe too much from EGM, especially the Rumor Mill. Yeah but if it's basically the same then it doesn't matter so MS still losesOriginally posted by abates21LOL. For the longest time, the majority of games were created for PS2 and then ported to xbox (minus 2k games) and now its switched. I guess thats what PS3 gets for waiting.

HUH? I'm trying to understand what you're talking about. If they use the same engine than PS3 loses the "better graphics" argument.Originally posted by SPTOYeah but if it's basically the same then it doesn't matter so MS still loses

Agreed, but if there's virtually no difference then it's a moot point no?Originally posted by bryan_05HUH? I'm trying to understand what you're talking about. If they use the same engine than PS3 loses the "better graphics" argument.
Besides I think there will be little to no real difference between the two consoles graphically.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Exactly.Originally posted by bryan_05HUH? I'm trying to understand what you're talking about. If they use the same engine than PS3 loses the "better graphics" argument.
Basically, we're not likely to see any sports title utilize all of the power Sony claims the PS3 possesses.Comment

Re: EGM Babble...
I pretty much expected this, I figured that most games would be built on the 360 and ported because the 360 was first. Why waste money reinventing the wheel?Comment

Re: EGM Babble...
If this is true I'm not surprised.
Why would developers want to spend more to start from scratch again. It doesn't make sense from a business perspective.Comment

Just because they will use the same engine, doesn't mean they can't look better.Originally posted by SullyExactly.

NBA 2K was the same engine on PS2 and Xbox was it not? Yet they could always add extra effects like sweat, better default textures, lighting, 3d crowds etc. That made the two versions look noticeably different.
So if those types subtle difference are added to the PS3, then we'll all notice it.
Same for NBA Live... it was always rougher looking and dropped more frames on PS2 than Xbox.
So if the 360 or PS3 has the slight extra's and performance advantage then it'll be worthwile.Comment

That's correct. The current gen sports games have slight difference that people notice, and so will next-gen.Originally posted by Admiral50Just because they will use the same engine, doesn't mean they can't look better.

We all knew the graphical difference between these 2 consoles would be minimal. I think these types of threads should be locked from now on, unless we actually here something newXbox 360 GamertagRAW 910

There are Middleware tools for this. That was true For Ps2 to Xbox. But it doesnt mean that is going to be true again. The Middleware tools will divvy it out.Comment

Re: EGM Babble...
Exactly Abates, that's reason numero uno MS wanted to get out the door first. When they got the commitment from EA that they would base their graphics engine off the 360 that's all they needed to launch the system.Originally posted by abates21LOL. And most developers will do the same making making multi-platform games. MS knew that last gen and used it to their advantage.Comment
