    Re: G.O.W. or C.O.D. 3 online (better?)...

My vote is for COD3. I'm loving the "war" type atmosphere in large rooms, and if you play with a good bunch of guys then the run and gun crap that most rooms have is eliminated (more strategy and players use classes appropriately...no huge tank battles with randoms, nor any bazookas on tiny maps).

As for GOW, I plainly am not feeling it. The graphics are amazing, the music is pretty good, and the story, while leading up to a cliffhanger (which pisses me off though I haven't finished campaign yet) is pretty good. The multiplayer to me is lacking. I guess I'm already outclassed online, but it's just too hard. The controls also IMO are a bit particular, and sometimes I think I'm in cover when I'm not, and other times I can't GET in cover and jam on the "A" button. I also don't like the rush for the "super weapons" that happens out of the gate. Maybe it's because I don't know where they are, but still

All that being said, I'll keep both for a long while in all likelihood (traded in 'Splinter Cell' today, still have GRAW, and will buy RB6). I'll also play them all online still, I just need some help with GOW I guess, since I either suck or my casual gaming is just plain being exposed in the worst way...since it seems those with experience just dominate hard!

I prefer COD becasue it's more action. I play GOW as well but the thing that bothers me about GOW is just sitting around for a couple minutes after you die waiting for the game to end.

GOW is still worth buying for playing offline though isn't it? I returned my GOW today and got my money back as i'm gonna need it for my _ichigan @ OSU trip this upcoming weekend. I plan to repurchase it next Friday though.

            R6: Vegas:wink:

Seriously though, I started off thinkin it would be COD3 all the way. Connection problems aside, I find the game too different from COD2 online, especially the shooting. The guns feel so...empty. Powerless. In COD2, if I had a Garand in my hand, it felt like I was shooting something very powerful, and felt very different from a Thompson or Ppsh. In COD3, every gun feels so similiar. And although there are certain pros to having a huge amount of people online, there is one big negative that stands out to me...individual ability doesn't seem to mean much.

In GOW, COD2 and even GRAW, in any given match you could win (or lose) the game for your team. When you have as many people online as COD3 supports, it just feels like a big mess of people and seemingly random outcomes.

I've had many games in COD2 or GRAW and a few in GOW where the odds were stacked against me (or my team) and I was able to make a big enough difference to help my team win.

One other thing that has happened as a result of the increased numbers of players: it has become more "arcadey". Very little tactical play involved, more "Haloish" running around and hoping for the best.

And kidding aside, I think when R6: Vegas drops, that will more than likely be my game of choice. Great tactical play, combined with just the right amount of players. And Vision Cam support to create a face for your online character

Keep practicing on GOW. I'm a casual gamer as well and the last time I played an on-line shooter it was Halo 2 which I hated. I'm sick of the jump and strafe battles that always happen with FP shooters on-line. Gears of War doesn't have it. If your team doesn't communicate it's hard to win.

                      Guys,

How does the offline Multiplayer work in this game (COD3)? Does it offer the option to play split screens?

Yes you can have up to 4 people playing on split screen offline. I'm pretty sure that's possible online as well (same 360).

from my knowledge of networks, i would have to say it has to be something on your end. it doesnt make since to work fine for some people, and not work ok for others. Is your router XBL compatible?

My bud was having problems with COD3, and I went over to his house to try and help him. I went into his router to manually open up port 88, and it kept giving me an error. Turns out we checked the router list on xbox.com, and his router wasnt on it. So, even though he plays other games online, COD3 wasnt working right. He changed routers, and now has no problems.

I'd have to go with COD3. The more chaos the better. GOW is nice. Great graphics and buttery smooth, but there is more to do in COD3. If you don't want to kill, you can do what I do sometimes....go "joyriding" through the maps...LOL. Its freaking hilarious when you see two soldiers just kicking it ridin through town.

Quick question. I have only played online a couple of times. I don't have a clue as to what am I supposed to be doing, also the enemy seems to pop up out of nowhere and kills me constantly. Anyone with advice please offer. I really am digging this game. PEACE!!! By the way I am talking about COD 3
