Blu-Ray/HD-DVD Encryption already cracked by a hacker

    <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_oZGYb92isE"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_oZGYb92isE" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Outside of movies, I'm not sure what kind of impact this will have on videogames. The 360 has already been cracked because it still uses regular DVD discs for games but I'm not sure what the status of the PS3 is.

No matter what companies do, the hackers are always one step ahead.

haha, I've already heard the ps3's games have been cracked so it can be dumped as images or something while using Linux as the OS.

But we can't really discuss much about this hear. You are right that the hackers will always be a step ahead.

I have absolutely no idea what went on in that video, or what this all means.

The movie was ripped to the hard drive.

And the PS3 was hacked within 2 days of being out, people dumping games on the HDD as well.

I notice system hacking happens easier then it did in the past

I like the Neo vs Seraph Matrix background music they used. Very appropriate.

You think there will be firmware updates to stop this from happening?

I mean, I'm sure if they try to get online with a hacked PS3, it'll crash...right??

Yes I think firmware updates will stop this. Of course, hackers will find a way to hack the updated firmware and then MS/Sony will have to have another firmware update. It'll go on as long as the console is relevant.

The console won't crash when someone goes online with a hacked system, but MS/Sony will be able to tell it's hacked. With MS, I think that means they take away your online privileges and that console will never be able to get online again.

From what I've read that is correct.

All the firmware updates in the world will do no good against these hackers...

If you follow the PSP sceneyou would know that they have been releasing firmware updates to combat the piracy, but you can still get around the updating...

The firmware is now being emulated, via a few programs... Its crazy...

And most people that have done the firmware thing to their 360 dont go online with it, so they will not be able to stop them via an XBL update..
