I agree with just about everything here. Don't think I've ever once played through a GTA game a second time, but I'm halfway done with RDR again.

And I knew the moment I saw Chubby's post that EG was going to come in here and agree. Two of the only people (I think there's two or three more who are between Fresh's opinion on the game and EG's) that I know that didn't like the game.

It's definitely in my Top Ten all time, without even thinking twice about it.

Yeah, I've only been a little excited for it.

I have some friends that didn't really like Red Dead, but are the kind of people that get bored in 10 seconds if they aren't playing a multiplayer twitchfest shooter (Nothing against those games, I love them).

RDR was one of the few games this generation that I just couldn't complete. The story bored me, and I love westerns. While the setting was good I don't think it translated well into the video game world.

I know besides EG im in the minority. Im cool with that. I can understand people won't agree with me. I played through the GTA series and DLCs multiple times. I just couldn't dig the Marsten story.

Hopefully the serial killer story along with a city setting will make this game shine like GTA IV.

I fit into the group that just couldn't find enjoyment from RDR. But, I'm also a bit skeptical of LA Noire because I've found myself being bored of every Rockstar game.

I'm hoping the more direct story will keep me entertained.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I think the setting was great (well, other than the Plains and woods - far too small compared to the rest of the map). My biggest problem was that the setting essentially felt vacant. There wasn't really that much going on even in the towns and the scripted random events grew old after you see the same 3 or 4 ones for the 20th time each.

I too, didn't like RDR as much as others, but I played through it and the story just didn't do much for me. I can respect and understand why others love it so much as there were some missions and scenes that I got really into, but the story and particularly the ending didn't do much for me. With that being said I am highly looking forward to LA. Noire.

Good to know I'm not alone.

And Tendrils I only played the woods in RDR once in MP and thought it was awesome, but all I kept staring at during the story was boring plains land.

I guess I never made it far enough.

Oh well, I didn't mean to side track the thread. LA Noire will hopefully be good.

RDR started out as one of the most boring games ever.

However, when it picked up, IT PICKED UP.

even if you have no interest in the game, the Tech should have you excited for GTA 5.

That's assuming Rockstar will use it for GTA 5.

I have a feeling LA Noir, along with being a new game, is also a test of the hardware for future titles. It would surprise me if they dont use some of the new tech from RDR and LA Noir in GTAV.

The new tech looks great with the facial animations. I wonder if all the NPC's will have the same face tech though.

As exciting as the new tech is, I am also looking forward to see how they handle this open world urban setting.

How much will the linear approach change the exploring aspect of the open world? I wonder if you can even start a random fire fight on the street with you being a cop and all and what the repercussions of your actions will be? Jailed for excessive force?

I have been waiting a long time to see a new cop detective game. The point and click adventure Police Quest was the last time I played that role. It's going to be interesting to read more and I can't wait.
