The PS2 is only ahead of the box because it was out a year earlier. If Sony gets out the PS3 this year, like it has been rumored then maybe they will retain that lead. I can just imagine a day like this... October 20, 2004 launch day for not only Sony, but MS and Nintendo. That would be one crazy day.

But the PS2 is one over hyped machine. The emotion engine WTF. That's about as true as a compassionate conservative. Sure it sounds good but what is it really?

I also think Sony knows that the Xbox has the all the little things gamers like but they also know that games makes the system. I play most everything for the Xbox and would sell my PS2 if I could. But Sony has the exclusives that sell it. Halo 2 might be the GTA for the Xbox. If it's online not only will it sell more xbox's but it will sell more xbox lives. With that combo, the Xbox shores up it's base.

"The PS2 is only ahead of the box because it was out a year earlier." Umm, the Dreamcast came out a year before the PS2 and we saw how it turned out. The PS2 is a good machine and competes well with X-box even though it was actually out nearly 2 years before the x-box (Japan release was much earlier than US PS2). The XBox should be blowing the PS2 out of the water with graphics but it is only slightly better. For its time, the PS2 was pretty revolutionary.

I do think the engine for the PS2 has been pushed to the max, which could also make the rumor seem tru that the PS3 is coming out this year. The xbox however hasn't been used to it's fullest potential, so maybe we'll be sure before the year is up.

There is no way PS3 is coming out this year, they said 2005...unless... ...they are saying that to FOOL their competitors... ?
