For those whining about EA's potential fees...
According to this article posted today on CNN.com...EA lost 157 million last year. As I've always said, it's never good not have sufficient revenues to offset those expenses.

Re: For those whining about EA\'s potential fees...
I am actually rooting for the fees for EA sports games on the PS2 and I hope it is high charge also. EA seems hellbent on showing online gaming is not a big deal on the consoles and such a move would suit their needs.
Typical EA "we are right and everyone else is wrong" mentallity. This is fine as I will stick to playing my EA games on the Xbox and Sega games on XBL and 989 Sports games on the PS2.

The most amazing stat in my eyes is :

Even though the Sony deal grants EA the terms it desires, it hardly guarantees success for the company's online game efforts. According to a recent Jupiter Media survey, 60 percent of console owners have no interest in connecting their consoles for online play.

Console gaming is still in its infant stages....and I'm loving it already!Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment

Re: For those whining about EA\'s potential fees...
Thank you BD. It will save me an extra 50 bucks if EA announces their fees for their games online during E3 so I will not buy NCAA for PS2. I'd rather pay my $49.99 to renew my XBL subsription and not have to worry about paying a fee for every game. I don't like too many different drafts charging to my checking account and credit card every month. I've already decided I won't play Madden online but I was gonna get both versions of NCAA."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

In terms of accounting, that is a very huge difference. Let the bean counters (i can't believe I'm using that term) try to explain that to guys upstairs.
FYI, I didn't mean I feel sorry for EA, I just posted it for the cheapskates that whine about having to pay a fee, those who think their 50 bucks entitles them to play for free online."Never trust a big butt and a smile."-Ricky Bell

Re: For those whining about EA\'s potential fees...
I don't think EA will charge you for every online game you play..that would be stupid. I'd figure they'd go with an XBL like approach where you can pay monthly (or annually) to play any EA sports game online for the PS2. (That would make more sense in my eyes.) That would also start a domino effect where the producers of SOCOM (the most popular online game for the PS2) can start to do the same thing when SOCOM 2 comes out.Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.Comment
