French gaming website, PS3Gen reports that LittleBigPlanet 2 might be pushed back into 2011 by Sony.

They cite an inside source as their means of procuring this information. LittleBigPlanet 2 is scheduled for a November 16 release this year and a collector’s edition has also been revealed.

Although, this is a pretty heavy rumour right now but with games such as Castlevania, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Call of Duty : Black Ops, Medal of Honor and Sony’s own Gran Turismo 5 releasing this fall. It can’t entirely be ruled out that Sony might push this title back into 2011.

Damn, I was hoping for this to be a nice little Christmas present. Would be a good holiday game for sure.

Same here. I prefer quality or quantity therefore, I would much rather than push it back than rush it out but, that's just me.

Delayed until January

Media Molecule has announced a delay for LittleBigPlanet 2.

The PS3 game had been expected in November, but will now be released in January 2011.

"We know this will come as disappointing news for all you LittleBigPlanet fans, and believe us, we are disappointed too," wrote MM on its website. "We are a tight-knit team and we take enormous pride in our work, so to raise the bar we've set with the original LittleBigPlanet, a game that has been so embraced by all, we've agreed to allow ourselves a bit more time to deliver the experience that our great fans and community deserve.

"We are truly sorry, but hope you understand that we have to build the best possible game, as it is the foundation of our community."

I was so excited for it to drop in November. I guess NBA 2K11, Gran Turismo 5 and Rock Band 3 will keep me plenty occupied.

Kind of off topic, but is there any compelling reason to keep the original Little Big Planet disc? Thinking about selling it and didn't know if there was anything I could import or gain from having the original around.

I can't think of any reason. I've thought about getting rid of it now as well since once 2 drops I doubt I ever go back to the original. I guess it all comes down to if you want to go through the single player again.
