The first two Bioshocks weren't visually stunning either so nothing bad there. It was ALWAYS about the atmosphere.

And as I remarked on Twitter earlier today, the atmosphere is FANTASTIC.

Like earlier, I'm not big into BioShock like some of you are... But I think you guys will be pleased when you get your hands on it.

For anyone getting this on PC, might check eBay for some deals. People are selling their codes that AMD has been giving out with the purchase of their graphics cards. It comes in either package of Bioshock Inifinite/Crysis 3 or Bioshock Infinite/Tomb Raider, I think. I just bought one on eBay for Bioshock Inifinite/Crysis 3 for $45. Pretty good deal for two games, I think.

Hahaha I hear you loud and clear on that one. We live in an area where AC isn't in most of the apartments, which is peachy for 95% of the days... but man when we hit that 100+ degree weather for the small amount of days. Let's just say the fan was expensive, but I wouldn't trade it in at all.

On the Bioshock front, for you guys, let's just say I am impressed. Don't take this as me saying the game is perfect - because no game truly is... but there is nothing (not even some little minute thing that I can think of during playing) that annoys me about this game - which is surprising in a shooter.

The story is fantastic - even though I find myself not caring about the main character himself sometimes, I always want to keep playing more and more to find out where the story will take me. The difficulties are very well done (to me, of course difficulties are always YMMV.) I feel like I'm coming up on the end of the game, but I've felt like that before only to be completely wrong. I'm probably (don't mind my math on pain pills here, it's just an estimate) about 12/15-20 hours into the game. Somewhere in that general range.

Couple questions for ya. You say you're not a big bioshock guy but during this playthrough are you exploring a lot instead of immediately moving on with the story? Second are there many opportunities where your personal decisions effect the outcome of the game similar to the little sisters in the original bioshock? Please try to avoid spoilers for me!

I'm exploring every little nook and cranny that I can find. As for the personal decisions... I've had to make three I think (nothing that has arced the storyline, the decisions weren't the same akin to the little sisters.). I have no idea if has had any effect on the story, to be honest. Two have had a small visual effect but I do not know if it runs any deeper than that. The other one, again, I'm not sure if it had any effect in the long run of things.

I'm getting the game no matter what but watching gameplay video if almost feels like chaos.

How are you feeling as you run through the story? Did you feel overwhelmed at any point or does the game sort of push you along a bit?

Overwhelmed as in number of enemies and frenetic firefights? If so, there have been times I wished there were more enemies. The gunplay in this game is fantastic to me (and I'm not a big FPS gamer.). That and the vigors you get / other methods available during gameplay can help turn the tide of a battle pretty quick.

There have been a couple of times where I've barely survived some scraps but that's more due to where I was during the storyline and what was/wasn't around.

I guess I mean in going from area to area. It just seems like something is always happening and you're jumping from place to place at will.

Gotcha. No, its fairly calm in terms of always being on the go. The story has a nice pace, but how I've been doing it is exploring the every part of the area open to me before I move on with the story.

                              THE VERDICT
Going in, I had to question whether Infinite could live up to the BioShock name after having discarded its signature world of Rapture, with its Big Daddies and Little Sisters and warring philosophies, and starting from scratch. On the way out, I'm forced to seriously question which is the better game. In total, BioShock Infinite is a brilliant shooter that nudges the entire genre forward with innovations in both storytelling and gameplay. It trips over itself in a couple of spots, but not in any way that should keep you from embracing it with your utmost enthusiasm.

                                Highly agreed.

My favorite BioShock of them all. Though without reading their full review, I'm not quite sure what they mean by feeling a bit padded in the middle.

I'd give the game a 10/10 after beating it, but that just means I think it could be in contention for what I, personally, consider game of the year. It's not perfect, but it is amazingly fun. My fiance even sat on the bed and watched me play it for quite some time and she found it interesting. Also, she got to laugh at me when I died.
