yea it sucks that you have to play MP to get the best ending, mainly because I dont have an online pass code. What exactly do you have to do to get the best possible ending without playing MP?

Re: Mass Effect 3
Okay, I've beaten the game:
SpoilerIt is worthy of the implied controversy I'd been noting throughout this thread. Personally, I think it was bad. I think it ruined an amazing series, for me. I didn't like the idea of being introduced to this new character in the final several minutes of the series. I didn't like the choices laid out before me. I didn't like that the choices that I have made when playing this game the past 5 or so years do not matter in the slightest. Even the choices that I made only in this game, are meaningless.
Everything up until the end was almost perfect. I was sitting here thinking about going through the trilogy again on different characters, to see all the different endings. I was thinking about all the different choices I could make that would affect said endings.
So when I actually got to the ending, after doing every single thing to be done in this game outside of multi-player (that's another thing I feel completely cheated by, terrible ending notwithstanding), I was pretty underwhelmed. I started reading the spoilers that I had been avoiding like the plague in this thread and saw that I wasn't the only one. So this morning, I said screw it, and looked for alternate endings on YouTube, just to see what might have been if I didn't play the game the way I chose to play it. I was really shocked to see that no matter what I do, the ending is pretty much the same. Really? Not only that, but it makes absolutely no sense! It raises more questions than it answers.
I'm not going to keep ranting, but I don't see how any fan of the series could be satisfied with that ending. Like I said, while playing, I kept thinking about how I'd go back and play through the series again to make different choices and see how they affected the ending. There's no hurry or even a need to do that now that I see that none of it matters.
That said, it was a helluva ride up to that point. It's an amazing game play experience throughout the whole series. The end of it though...man.SpoilerYou're not alone. I think a majority of us on here felt/feel the same way.Oklahoma State Cowboys 2011 Big XII Champions, 2012 Fiesta Bowl Champions

Re: Mass Effect 3
Something small that was really appreciated by me in this game was the map key. Later on, if I didn't want to cruise the citadel I would just take the elevator to every stop and press the map key. If someone had something to say their name would appear in gray on the map. It saved a lot of time and helped me a ton with the retrieve missions.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
They go away when you complete it, that's what I appreciated. So I didn't have to waste my time looking for that one person on the Citadel that I had to return this one ruin to. I just opened the map every floor instead. The only ones that stayed on the map were your crew members.
I have been messing around with a ME2 save game editor, changing romances, renegade, etc. I have to give credit to Bioware, the dialogues change to reflect it pretty well. For example, conversations that I had with Ashley on Mars changed when I set her romance to 0.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
What was everyone's favorite interrupt in the game? Mine was...
SpoilerThe Kai Leng one when he tries to sneak behind you and stab you. It's a renegade one and I'm paragon, but I just had to do it! Shep sense it, turns around and punches Leng's sword. Sword shatters, and then Shepard stabs him with his omni blade and says, "That was for Thane, you son of a bitch."
So bad ***.Spoilerya that was cool. in mine Shep said "That was for Miranda". Miranda was my "love interest" in ME2 and I never could find Thane in this game even though he survived the suicide mission in 2Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Best Interrupts for me:
Spoiler1. Punching the reporter in the face outside the elevator in the embassy.
2. Shooting Miranda's sister in the leg to save her.
3. Kneeing the Quarian Admiral in the balls for attacking the Geth ship while you were still on it.
4. Storming back into the War Room to cut the Salarian diplomat off while she was talking.
Best Javik lines:
All of them basically, I got a chuckle out of every interaction he has. Man I hope the DLC contains a female Prothean.....It would be hilarious.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
Spoileri guess either he had to be loyal in 2 or you have to find him within a certain time frame near the beginning or hes gone for the rest of the story. I checked out the hospital later in the game and he wasnt there.Last edited by ZB9; 03-14-2012, 04:30 PM.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
So, from looking around, this is apparently confirmed. Really sucks that MP indeed impacts the experience. Thank God I decided to jump to PC...if I had stayed on the 360 I'd be pretty pissed.
I'm going to go through and edit the remaining assets to make up the difference and balance out the 50% readiness modifier (haven't found anything for changing the readiness itself).
Someone said something about the ending options being reversed...
SpoilerI don't think they are. If you choose the destroy option you're not just destroying the reapers, you're destroying ALL synthetics. So you've also destroyed the Geth, who were helping the Quarians and you even destroyed EDI. Sheppard lives if you've got the EMS for it,Earth lives but you just wiped 2 races and damaged another. The catalyst also tells you synthetics would eventually over throw organics. Throughout the series the renegade option has been sacrificing or killing others the entire time for the sake of humans and humans only, getting the job done no matter what the cost to others which is what happens here.
I haven't seen the control option but it's my understanding Shepard sacrifices his/her self and everyone else lives. Paragon had been about self sacrifice/doing the right thing and sparing as many lives as possible.Comment

Re: Mass Effect 3
There's nothing to edit readiness, have to edit the assets individually.
I guess it would be the one you need 2800 EMS for because that's the most required EMS otherwise.

Did that mean just the Geth and all AI(EDI), or people that have implants like Shepard? Everyone and everything in the galaxy is using some sort of synthetic techComment

SpoilerThat's the only ending Shepard can live through so I assume it's just stuff like Geth,EDI and the Phantoms etc.Comment

More Ending thoughts.
SpoilerThe more I read about the controversy/theories of the ending of Mass Effect 3, the more it reminds me of the last episode of the Sopranos and how many people were upset at that. They both ended in similar fashions and both are sparking similar debates.Comment
