notice that i never said games would make people grab guns!
and still, i think there is a huge difference between games an movies/novels..
its a matter of active and pasive! when reading a novel or watchin a film, you think
about what is presented to you..you can reflect on it..
but when you play Vietnam, you ACTIVELY take the role of a soldier that kills people,
you replay one of the darkest chapters in US history..
think about it,.. everyone says the content of the game doesnt matter, if its war in vietnam, middle east or else where..
its all about the fun and "eye-hand coordination"..
ok then why dont program a game in which it is your task to fly a plane into some well known towers -Oooops!!!
"naah- i dont wanna recreate the death of some friends and family members of mine" - would many people probably think - and thats my point:
there is NO difference between such a game and the other war-based ones...recreating history in an
active way - virtually taking the gun and killin the enemy--
you compare this to a movie? i aint think so guys...
i dont wanna hate on people that play such games, but in my opinion a humans sense of ethic
sould prevent someone from havin fun playin them... you should think:
"danm, what i do here actually happend, and war is happening right at this moment.."
war is not fun and games..
think about it, would you still play these games if your father had been killed in iraq?
oh and as far as most people gettin historic knowledge only from movies goes, i think that is the case...
P.S.: huuh... that is hard explain since english in not my native language..
