Not choosing IN THE ZONE for my sniper is the one regret I have when he got his promotion to colonel. I chose DOUBLE TAP which I like, but the other option is definitely deadlier from what I've read.

Also for the Assualt class I think FLUSH is much more valuable than RAPID FIRE for the Lieutenant promotion. I have two assault guys and chose a different route for them. The guy with FLUSH is so much more effective because RAPID FIRE is innacurate and unreliable. One of my least favorite abilities in the entire game.

Well well well, if it aint Sundown and Gotmadskillz. I see you guys went ahead and put down the NCAA also huh? Yes, XCOM is the ****!! By the way, I still have a bit of faith in the NCAA team (I'm just not a fairweather fan gents) so I'm excited for 14 even though they've been in the slumps for the last 8 eight years.

Kind of like my Cleveland Browns, yea they're ****ty as hell but I still check for em from time to time. I have more sympathy for them now rather than anger

RapidFire with a Shotty at close range is absurd. I agree though, with assault rifles, it is kinda useless.

I disagree. Maybe not on normal, but on the harder difficulties Double Tap with squad sight was amazing. It saved my *** (and my other soldiers) numerous times.

In the zone is way better.........It allows your sniper to keep shooting one shot after another in all in the SAME TURN until they run out of ammo. Because of that, your sniper can wipe out 6 enemies in the same turn.

The 1st DLC gave you a ton of resources that other wise you wouldn't have that early in the game:

                  600 alloys
                  500 Elerium
                  300 Weapon fragments
                  6 Flight computers
                  8 Power Sources
                  2 fusion cores

And at the end, of the 3rd mission, 2 of your soldiers would reach the rank of Colonel and the rest the rank of Captain. So yeah, I loved Slingshot.

That I can understand, just more from a depth of additions/changes in gameplay is more my thought. I'd like more unique/different maps, maybe new weapons, something to spice it up a bit.

the 1st DLC pack was pre-planned and worked on along side of the game. probably by a smaller group of devs who's work on the main game had wrapped up already. just some basic DLC - some content, some skins - to keep the accountants happy.

the 2nd DLC pack was also pre-planned, just some gameplay tweaks they were testing/playing with that they couldn't finish or balance right.

i don't think they planned on a 3rd DLC pack until the game came out.

from the interviews i've read, it sounds like they are listening to the fans opinions/suggestions and taking their time with the 2013 DLC. i think they are going to really wow us when it comes out. they see the reviews, they see the sales, they see the fans really loving this game. and now they have the time and a bigger team at their disposal to really expand and generate some new content.

While Firaxis' Jake Solomon and I were talking about the addition of The Second Wave to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, our conversation shifted to the game's poorly-received first paid DLC, Slingshot. From there, he also reflected on players' response to XCOM's difficulty and how 2012 was a banner year for "consequence" as a concept in video games.

The Second Wave, a menu of toggleable XCOM campaign mutators, is being integrated into Enemy Unknown tomorrow in a free update. An unfinished version of the code was originally noticed by modders in October, who produced a tweak that switched on many of the settings less than two weeks after the game released.

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. By which I mean, just when you thought I couldn't possibly muster …

I agree, I would not be surprised if the new DLC isnt along the lines of an expansion pack (Firaxis already has a history of those), lots of content and lots of options would be my guess... or that might be me hoping for something like that.... although lots of people have been clamoring for co-op play and I dont know that I share the enthusiasm for co-op.

Makes sense...and I'm not bashing the dev team at all, just noted that the DLC so far wasn't something I had to buy right away. I'm a huge fan of Jake Solomon (he's hilarious in vids) and I think they'll give us something more meaty next time. They never knew this would get so huge, but now that it is they can justify a deeper DLC I think.

I bought my XCOM brand new on sale a few days before Christmas for 39.99 at Gamestop and surprisingly I got a copy that came with the code for the Elite Soldier Pack. I did a little research and found out that copies with that code were sold early when the game came out to ppl who pre-ordered or whatever. Not sure how I got my hands on a copy in Dec when the game came out in Oct but I'm not complaining. Go to Gamestop and ask if they have an Elite Soldier Pack copy. You should see a sticker that points it out on the plastic warp. Unfortunately the game is full price now, but after playing it I would say well worth it even though I saved 20 bucks.
