    Re: Older gamers?

Somebody needs to do a spoof on older gamers and how they don't have the speed they once had. Some lines I'm thinking of:

"One morning you wake up, sit at the end of your bed and you realize it's just not there anymore."

"I used to be able to take out entire clans. Now I camp."

"I was sure it was a lagfest. Turns out, I'm over 40."
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I used to be awesome & unstoppable in Socom 1 & 2, not so much in Battlefield & MW...

But I will never quit, been gaming since the Atari days.

I mean, I just got MVP 2012 and I was using pulse pitching and I got 1 good release out of an entire game. I was going apes$#% last night trying to get a perfect release. I just can't figure out the damn timing. I walked 7 batters, gave up 3 homeruns and 11 runs. It was horrific.

Anyways, I don't care that I suck, I love playing games and will do it as long as I possibly can.

I'm 30, my reaction time is the same, but I'll put this out there: I don't care nearly as much. I used to actually stress a bit over 'winning' but now it's not as important because really... who cares? I still try to do really well, but I'm way less intense and don't game as often.

How can you expect to compete with a 20 something college student who plays videogames for 8 hours a day! ...?

For example I went back and played COD4 and I know the maps (Still) even after not playing for so long and I was owning it! I know those maps better than codmw2 or blackops. UFC3 I lost 7 fights in a row - which NEVER would have happened in '09 ---- that game I had over 300 online matches, this one I'm at around 20 and will probably get rid of the game before hitting 60 matches.

Different mentality + way less time playing = worse results (and not giving a ship)

                Re: Older gamers?

I just turned 40 in feb and still feel great but I do workout so that probably helps me feel the way I do. I have been gaming dating back to pong. My first system I owned was colecovision with games such as zaxxon, lady bug, rocky, football, H.E.R.O., dam busters etc. The only system I regretted getting over the years was the sega saturn which I traded in for the PS1. I play games for the game not trophies & achievements. I see no need to stop playing and I will probably die with a controller in my hand.

I agree with Storm 100%. I've been working out since 1985 and I truly believe it's helped my gaming.

As for the old systems, I still have my ColecoVision(including the steering wheel tracball, super-action controllers and Atari 2600 adapter) and my Atari 7800. Once in a while I'll whip out the old classics. Of course the graphics are archaic, but the gameplay is solid. I kept my PS2 also.

Does anyone feel like they should just quit playing games because they're too old? Personally, I still play because it's fun, but some of my friends make me feel like I shouldn't anymore.

I still have my colecovison but sadly it no longer works. Also the game decathalon for colecovison was an exhausting game and really gave your hands a workout. I also have the super-action controllers with red knob joysticks & spin ball. Turbo & dukes of hazzard were fun with the steering wheel & pedal. Goodtimes.
