Is anybody else's pre order code not working?

Poor Tribe. All alone in the Beyond thread. Just remember, even though GTA has around 1000 thread pages, we'll just consider our posts 500% more awesome.

Sorry I can't answer your question, I have the special Pre-Order Edition, but do not have internet access at home.

Well, the reviews are as polarizing as I'd expected. I've seen 4/10's, 9/10's and perfect 5/5's. As a huge admirer of Heavy Rain, make no mistake, I've found my experiences with the first 10 chapters of Beyond to be pretty much equally as breath-taking.

Is some of the dialogue corny? Yeah. David Cage isn't much of a writer. But what he excels at - atmospheric set piece moments- is on full display in this title. Last night,

      Spoiler

I was literally on the edge of my seat! I was anxious and honestly sent Aiden out ahead of me multiple times to ensure something terrifying wasn't awaiting me around the corner.

For about three hours, I was sort I waiting the narrative to breakdown like some of my favorite reviewers had stated. But that just didn't happen. At least not yet. I'm especially interested in how my opinion of the way the story is presented (jumping around from past to present) might change once the game is completed; would it be better if it were told chronologically? I don't know. But what I do know is that this game has my attention and I'm very eager to dive back in later on to see where the next episode takes me.

The only thing that worries me is it seems unlike Heavy Rain, failing something doesn't change the narrative of the story. That partially made Heavy Rain what it was. You never knew how what you did would change the outcome. Removing that has given me some reservations

That's huge to me. The whole point was that YOU have input on the outcome of the game, based on how you play.

Now it just sounds like a lower level movie (writing wise, like someone said...I'm sure Ellen Page is awesome) where you occasionally add input.

I think David Cage is slowly losing me from his vision. I will get this game at some point in the future, but not as hyped anymore.

Yes, those were some of my favorite things about Heavy Rain too.

But let me ask you this: If you were to fail with Jodie, and the result were to be like Heavy Rain - meaning, you die - how would the narrative continue?

With only one (two if you include Aiden) playable character, perma-death isn't really an option here. Though, I agree in theory. I love it when my choices impact the story line. I'll have a better opinion on this once I beat it and see how the multiple endings are achieved.

They could have you fail without dying, either giving you personal consequences (i.e. you get captured and have to escape, missing some other part of the game) or you have other consequences (i.e. you misfire, still overcome whatever obstacle before you, but other people, notably well established NPCs, suffer consequences).

I haven't started playing, but it is disappointing to hear about the lack of consequence.

Yeah, that was my thought...I just like when my decisions really matter and I suffer (or reap) the consequences of them

This. Its not Bout dying so much as its to just change what the experience is. Like using the demo for example not actually getting away in that scene and the game shifts to what she would do to escape or something along those lines.

I agree with you guys, but I'm still enjoying the **** out of this game!

Remember, there are multiple endings, so I'd hate to see you guys pass on this because Quantic decided to take a different approach on how to execute their story.

Heavy Rain is one of my favorite games of this generation but I find this story so incredibly charming, giving it a real run for its money! And oh, it's way less glitchy (Heavy Rain was very wonky at times and lagged something awful between chapters, if that makes sense) So all is great, well, except for this one scene around 13 chapters in:

                    Spoiler

I really wanted to see this set of options:

                    X: Grab scissors
                    O: Lay down warm blanket
                    Triangle: Comfort and praise
Square: Get the **** out of dodge

Square! Square! Square! Ah! For the love of God, square me!!!!!

I'll get it eventually, just on sale in the future. I tend to wait to get new games now anyways, but the impressions made this not as urgent of a game as I once thought.

                          I definitely will.

By the way, regardless of people's impressions of the game itself, the visuals in this game I think are pretty universally agreed upon to be stunning.

I really want this game and I'm sure it's great but the release date was terrible. In between GTA V and the new consoles? That could be a death knell. If this came out in august I would've been all over it. I absolutely loved Heavy Rain and bought it at launch.

After 50 hours and only 52% progress in GTA V I decided to take a little break for the open world and enjoy the movie-esque pacing of a David Cage game as a little relaxing treat.

I hear ya though. I nearly passed for the same reason but reconsidered. I generally enjoy tackling two games at once. One heavily interactive and the other more cinematic if possible.

With the abundance of excellent games since The Last of Us launched, this is the first year since 2009 I haven't completed an MLB The Show season. I'm just so inundated with release after release of heavy weight material and only generally have an hour and a half's worth of gaming time at the moment (which honestly isn't quite enough time to properly play a baseball game).

Though I really hope to finish up my Yankees Franchise, I've gotta say - 2013 will always be remembered by me as one of the PS3's greatest years of gaming. So many classics, so little time.
