I'm not sure how many people here have played the original Defense Grid (frequently one of the featured games during the Steam sales), but they are raising money right now via Kickstarter for the sequel:

As far as the tower defense games, the original Defense Grid is one of the best I've ever played. A pledge of $15 will net you the original game, the expansion pack (~Dec 2012 release), and Defense Grid 2 when it is eventually released.
Anyways, just throwing this out there in case anybody is interested. I also have a free game code for the original Defense Grid for the first person who asks.
