I agree it sucks, but the Xbox is the worst offender imo. Want to play DVDs? Shell out another $20. Want to hook up 5.1 audio? Welp, another $30... Sony may not put 4 controller ports on the system, but at least they gave you a digital audio connection and dvd playback ablities out of the box.

Reason for why Sony may have chose not to create a system that already has four controller points is because of profits they'd get for the multi-tap. I'd agree this is pretty stupid but hey, if you want to play more than 2 players on the system, pay up, it's just like the DVD stuff for the XBOX.
