Re: Destiny
What would be an example of a game or two in this genre designed for single player which doesn't require a monthly fee.If you're looking for a good single player and story this game isn't for you. The multiplayer is pretty fun once you get used to it, and this game is all about the high level strikes and missions with groups of three. If you don't have people to play with you probably won't enjoy this game as much as one focused on single player.≡Comment

Re: Destiny
So to start the Bad Juju weapon bounty I have to do a weekly strike. Figured last night I would jump into a random tiger strike (because those count). Did about 3 or 4 of them and each time my random partners left or didn't move. Super frustrating.Comment

Re: Destiny
For classes, if you're going to PVP, I'd recommend not picking the Titan class. They are clearly the weakest and least effective of all three classes in PVP. I'm a Titan myself, but I don't feel they were necessarily built correctly. They don't tank all that well and they aren't any sort of weapon specialist, so I don't quite understand their purpose.
Here's a link to the data demonstrating why Titans appear to be the weakest class (with the Defender subclass being near worthless outside of the Vault):

I just came to the realization yesterday that Vanguard marks (and I assume Crucible marks) are capped at 200. I kept doing bounties and strikes and wondered why my marks weren't going up anymore. Oops. Guess I'm sticking with the Crucible or material farming for now until I can get Dead Orbit to 3, then start leveling up my Vanguard.Comment

Re: Destiny
Patch notes:
Ever since they posted the patch preview I have been storing my blue engrams, I'll record the decoding and post it, so we can see what we are working with.Summary:
With this patch, we address some widely-discussed concerns with how Engrams are earned and claimed. Strikes have become more rewarding, and the rewards gained from them are more predictable. Also affected is the rotation of maps that appear in the Crucible.
Cryptarch
Legendary (purple) engrams will always produce a Legendary quality item or higher
Note: Legendary engrams that exist in your inventory will change to Rare quality items when the patch is applied. However, decoding these engrams will still produce the same results as before
Rare (blue) engrams will always produce a Rare quality item or higher
Chance for Legendary gear increased
Materials: Ascendant Shards and Ascendant Energy promoted to Legendary quality (from Rare quality)
Rewards
Rare (Blue) and Legendary (Purple) Engram drops added to the potential rewards for:
Vanguard: Tiger Strike Playlist
Daily Heroic Missions (first time per day)
Weekly Heroic Missions (first time per week)
Known issues
When selecting a higher difficulty for daily missions, XP Bonus not show in the reward display
You will still get the XP bonus, you just won't see it in the UI
Crucible
Reduced time limit on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash from 15 to 12 minutes, bringing them in line with non-vehicle maps in those playlists
Lowered weighting on Bastion and First Light in Control and Clash so they appear less often in those playlistsLast edited by Burns11; 10-01-2014, 12:10 PM.Comment

Re: Destiny
I'm wondering the same. I know pre-patch there definately wasn't any and that kinda sucks. Id love to be able to go in and knock out a weekly or whatever with some random people when I can't roll with my regular crew and have an option for headset chat if need be. Maybe that's in this patch. I dunno. I haven't had a chance to look at the patch notes yet.
I just wanna see how much my totally awesome exotic SUROS REGIME auto rifle got nerfed.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: Destiny
Here's my decoding vid. Tale of the tape:
37 blue engrams (31 from storage, 6 more from two cryptarch levels, no more guaranteed purple engrams from cryptarch levels)
2 shaders (from cryptarch levels)
Results:
33 blues
2 motes
2 coins

Re: Destiny
I don't know if I exactly agree. I'm running a striker Titan I can post time after time where I'm consistiently in the top 2 on the team's leaderboards. At first I sucked, but I learned how to spec my Titan for PVP then started getting familiar with the maps, game modes, and other player's tendancies. It took time for me to develop my skill, but I'm running just fine with my striker Titan. I'm running Auto Rifle and Shotgun. Sometimes I run Auto rifle and Sniper depending on the game mode and size of map. PVP in this game just like any other game is about 90% the skill of the player and when I say skill I don't just mean reaction time and aiming. I mean all of it (map knoweldge, reading your radar, etc). For classes, if you're going to PVP, I'd recommend not picking the Titan class. As far as Defender titan's go, I will comment because just two nights ago I was on a team that was in a 6v6 control match and we looked like a bunch of amateurs. Wanna know why? We got beat 20,000 to 4,000.. yes, that's like MJ playing 1-1 against a fat 12 year old. Wanna know why the score was such a beatdown? Because of these two DEFENDER titans.... Let me explain what they did..
These two Titans and a hunter ran together on control from point to point. They would get to a point, one titan would throw up his bubble (shield) and they would all sit there capping the point. There's nothing you could do. You cant shoot them wile it's up, and anyone that went into the bubble (even groups of 2 or 3) would get mele'd and supered to death. Everytime they capped and you walked in, at least one of thier supers was up. It was like walking into a cage with two heavyweight boxers and one Bruce Lee. And here was the beauty of this team and as I watched in awe. After they capped one point, they would go to antother and by the time they got there, the other Titan would pop his bubble while the other was on cool down.. the hunter's super was up by the time they got to the next point or at least by the time some fools tried to rush into their bubble. I have no idea what the other 3 people in their team was doing, and honestly I don't think it mattered. These two titans with their bubble pretty much dominated the match. You would literally stand outside of thier bubble and there was nothing you could do but watch them take the point.
I love my Titan, wouldnt trade him in for the world, and again... PVP is more about skill than your class. This isn't world of warcraft where some classes are severely OP and some are super gimped.__________________________________________________ ____

Re: Destiny
I'm mainly talking about 1v1; of course two defenders working in-sync are going to do well, same as any other two players working together. Generally speaking, this doesn't happen often. It doesn't help that you can't voice chat (it is likely those two guys were in a party chat together).I don't know if I exactly agree. I've used the bubble a lot in PVP lately, and honestly, unless you have teammates to back you up, it simply doesn't do much. Again, I'm talking 1v1 and who has an inherent advantage. Yes skill is a large determining factor, but skill alone doesn't explain everything away. Bungie has said they are going to do some balancing; unfortunately the patch today didn't do it.
If you run into a Striker, his special can just obliterate the bubble and instantly kill you. Likewise for other specials and even other non-special maneuvers. Now perhaps I'm not doing something right, but I can't figure out exactly what I could do differently (other than cease being a defender). I get killed inside the bubble more often than it helps me survive.
I will agree Strikers are much better off to hold their own. But AFAIK, Titan's melee isn't a one-hit kill, but I'll get one-hit melee killed by Hunters all the time. I'm not sure of the Warlocks melee skill or what it is. However, because it appears Titans are supposed to be the close-quarters, tanky fighters, it doesn't make much sense why they seem weaker than the other classes in those areas.Comment
